I bought some Wal-Mart $1 DVDs including "Manster," "Attack of the Giant Leeches" and "The Beast of Yucca Flats." I just watched all three of these in a row this afternoon. "Manster" is actually a fun flick; I enjoyed it. "Attack of the Giant Leeches" isn't quite as fun, but it is still enjoyable overall just for the ultimate cheese factor. Then there's "The Beast of Yucca Flats." AAARGH! Killers could only wish for victims that would sit so quietly while they're being strangled as happens in this movie! I could live with that, though, if it weren't for the narrator and his @#$%@ cliches. Everyone is either trapped in the wheels of progress or committing acts demonstrative of man's inhumanity to man or some such nonsense. Tor Johnson is Tor Johnson; I wasn't expecting much. I've read the reviews and fully accept responsibility for subjecting myself to this movie. But the narrator almost drove me nuts! I realize many of you here have seen this beast and so can relate to my asploding head. Any words of comfort/rebuke?

Menard

Some comforting words: mellow, soothing, solace. I hope I have helped. With regard to ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES, for such a short movie, I actually dozed off while I was watching; but then I may have been tired. It does definitely have cheese power and the leech outfits are ridiculous. I think ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES and THE BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS work better in a group viewing where everbody can comment. Thankfully these DVDs only cost one dollar.

Scott

Those are some great titles !  I know were I might be tomorrow....................

ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES is rough viewing, but when you see those bodies in the cave and those giant leaches.......look out.

The narration during BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS was what I remember most and of course Tor Johnson.

The eye on the shoulder of the MANSTER and the splitting by way of tree is something to behold.

That has to be the best purchase of the year Rich Andrini.

Hey Scott I had nothing to do with this. Unless you meant you purchased me for the year.  Don't know how you did it but I ain't questioning. Now I can lounge around your house, eat your food, watch your movies, scary away friends and family ,play loud rock and roll music all day ,burn out your comptuer with video games and dowloading music and burn out any console system like a PS2 you might own. Now were do you live :)

Not sure how I came up with your name. Sorry about that............. I meant Derf made the best purchase of the year with those titles for $1 each.

Well, it seems that Rich Andrini is still up for sale for the year then...I'll start the bidding at $100.

Well, then, I guess I should mention that at the same time, I also purchased "Bucket of Blood," "Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla,"Million Dollar Kid," "The Best of Burns and Allen" and "Gumbasia" at the same time, all for $1 apiece. I enjoyed "Bucket of Blood" despite some GAPING plot holes (how do those clay-covered bodies hold their pose? Rigor mortis?). "Brooklyn Gorilla" took me awhile to get through just because of the horrendous Martin & Lewis ripoff team of Mitchell & Petrillo (thank goodness they only made the one movie; civilization may have ended if there had been more). "Million Dollar Kid" is enjoyable (if a bit slow); I've always liked the East End Kids. I haven't had a chance to see the others yet, but Burns & Allen are always fun, and Gumby is good even when he's bad (it's one of those I-loved-him-as-a-kid-so-I-always-will things).

Scott

Oooh, been wanting to get a hold of BROOKLYN GORILLA. Haven't seen it yet.

THE EAST SIDE KIDS and BURNS AND ALLEN are great stuff, but usually the cheap copies I've found have been unbearable even on DVD. Let us know how they turn out.

Menard

Is Rich housebroken? Does this count as a tax deduction for charity?  ( :

Hey listen, Menard...are you gonna bid or not? Nobody is going to answer any questions...you just need to take a chance.
