Anyone using Netflix?

For a fixed fee ($17.99 per month), you get up to three movies mailed for rental, that you order off the Internet. No late fees. Over the month, you get as many as you want.

I heard an ad for the Blockbuster service and if memory serves, it was only $14.99 (I could be wrong about this), and also included two free in store rentals.

If anyone's using it, how do you like it?  Would you recommend the service? What about shipping charges?

Netflix has no shipping charges, but I believe they charge sales tax on the monthly fee.  I've been a member since 2000 and love their selection.  I can't imagine Blockbuster having anywhere near the selection Netflix does.  They have a lot of obscure films, though not everything.  

The turnaround time is very fast now, with distribution centers all over the place.  

I think there are a few other services that specialize in obscure cult classics, but haven't tried them...I probably would if I had more cash or more time to watch movies.

I use a similar service called Quickflix, which a friend recently got me into.  Currently I am being sent Bad Taste by Peter Jackson.  I look foward to getting this one!

I find that although most of the selection is like your average video store [multiplied by ten] I think it's easier to get foriegn films, anime and the more obscure films via Quickflix, which is why I have enjoyed it so much.

Although I'm in Australia so I don't really know about any other ones overseas!  

I reccommend it for the person who has more alternative tastes in movies [but then again, why else would you be here?!] because of the large selection of material that you wouldn't find in most average video stores.

It only takes a couple of days to recieve your next batch of movies, and you can go through as many as you want, or you could just keep them, though I don't reccommend it.

Basically I use this service to get what I can't normally get at a video store, and go to the store when in need of a new release or more mainstream fare.

I use Netflix and it is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys this website. All the films you've dreamed about and more.  (they are missing a few obscure films, but not many)

Yes and I am very satisfied with how prompt they are. The selection is very good. I currently get three at a time for about 20 bucks.

I've used Netflix for years and I can't recommend them highly enough. I love their service. They have such an extensive selection that you are able to rent obscure DVDs that you could never find at Blockbuster or even your neighborhood video store. Without Netflix you'd probably have to buy these DVDs to see them. They have old movies, foreign flicks, indie flicks, documentaries and (best of all) obscure horror flicks.

I've heard that Blockbuster's selection is not as extensive as that of Netflix and that Blockbuster does not offer unrated or NC-17 films. If all you rent is the latest mainstream flick of the week then you're probably better off saving a few bucks and going with the Blockbuster service. But if your tastes are at all eclectic then definitely go with Netflix.

Thanks for all the comments.  We are considering NetFlix, and this has been some good info.  With work schedules and such, we just don't get to the rental store as much as we used to.
