I think almost everybody has had some paranormal experiences in their lifetime. Whether they have seen ghosts or spirits, U.F.O.s, “Bigfoot” and other unidentified animals, or encountered weird events that just can’t be explained we all have had some bizarre happenings take place in our lifetimes.  It’s fun to share our “strange but true” stories!

Here are mine:

Once my mother was all alone in the house back in the late 80’s and she claims she felt an invisible hand touch her shoulder. My mother is a devout Catholic and she was praying for a sign from heaven (it was two years to the day that her father had passed away). Shortly after the prayer, she felt a “hand” tap and rub her shoulder as if somebody was in the room with her comforting her and re-assuring her. To this day she wonders if the tap on the shoulder was from the spirit of her father, a Saint or Angel from heaven, or perhaps Jesus himself. This event will always remain a mystery within my family.

Once I was all alone in the basement of the same house late at night and I saw a weird shadow walk across our window-well. It walked past our window-well, and then just stopped there and stood in front of the window. I know for a fact that I was not imagining the shadow because my cat looked at the window, and stood there and stared at the shadow. His ears went up and down as if he heard something too. After a couple of minutes of standing in front of the window the mysterious shadow quickly darted away. I wonder to this day if this was a person or an animal or “something else” as in something of supernatural origin. All the basements on our block had “drop-in doors” and although we did not use our “drop-in doors”, our next door neighbors did. They would quite often throw parties in their basement. Maybe the strange shadow was a person who was invited to our neighbors party, and they mistook our house for theirs? Another event in my family history that will never be explained.

My mother swears that shortly after her mother passed away, she would get mysterious phone-calls and she thinks they might have been from the spirit of her mother. When my grandmother was still alive, she would call my mother and give her three rings, hang up the phone, and then call back. For the longest time whenever it was the anniversary of some special event in my grandmother’s life (her birthday, her wedding anniversary, the anniversary of the day she died) my mother would get mysterious phone calls…the phone would ring three times and then stop ringing…then ring again a couple of minutes later. When my mother would answer the phone…there was nobody there.

Once in the same house where my mother felt the “hand”, she went for a walk to mail a letter. The mail-box was on the corner of the street we lived on and our house was next to the last house on the block. The walk to the mail-box only took two minutes “round-trip” and when she came back, this decoration we had on our refrigerator called a “Kitchen-Witch (a magnetized “witch” doll that is supposed to bring good luck into the house) was lying in the middle of the living room floor. How did this decoration get removed from the fridge and jump from the kitchen to the living room?  She was all alone in the house that day too, and our cat was never talented enough to remove the magnetic decorations we had on the fridge and carry them over to the other rooms. This event really creeped out all of us.

Once I went to the drugstore, and parked my car in the parking lot and proceeded to walk to the store entrance. As I was looking both ways to get safely across the parking lot, I saw what appeared to be a very old, wrinkled woman walking in front of me. She got past the traffic safely and was walking to the entrance of the drugstore when she turned around and made eye contact with me. She gave me an eerie smile and stuck her tongue out at me! What really creeped me out was how she was walking. It looked like her feet never made contact with the pavement, as if she was gliding a few inches above the ground. Did I mention that her body seemed semi-transparent as well? I saw her enter the drugstore, and I quickly ran into the store, and looked up and down all the aisles and never was able to spot her. I wonder to this day if she was a ghost of some old lady that was killed crossing the street in front of the drugstore or somewhere in that area. There was also a cemetery not too far from the drugstore, and the above mentioned house where my mom felt “the hand”. My family wonders if spirits and ghosts from this cemetery were responsible for some of these strange events.

I saved the scariest one for last. My wife is of  Portuguese descent, and the Portuguese have very elaborate and strange tales to tell when it comes to unexplainable events. Her grandmother was born in Portugual and often told her the tale about this young couple who had a baby back in the old country. The wife had a feeling that her husband’s mother was very jealous and angry that her son had a baby with her, and she would often worry that one day her mother-in-law would actually do something to harm or perhaps kill their child. The wife overheard some people gossiping about her mother-in-law, and the people claimed that she dabbled in witchcraft. One day the husband was working overtime and it was late in the evening, and the wife was all alone in the house with the baby. She just placed the infant into her crib for the night when all of a sudden she saw a huge ugly spider dangling from a web-stream hover over the baby’s crib. She cut the web-stream with a pair of scissors, and the spider landed on the floor. She took a heavy object, perhaps a shoe or a bunch of newspapers and crushed the spider. When she removed the object to see what was left of the spider, instead of seeing a bloody blob (the remains of the dead spider) she saw a red thing lying in the middle of the floor. When she picked it up, it almost looked to her like a piece of human flesh, the tip of a person’s tongue to be exact. She scooped up the piece of flesh and put it in a jar. When the husband got home from work…she told him about the spider and showed him the “tongue” in the jar. He confirmed that it looked like a tip of somebody’s tongue as well. She also told him she was worried that his mother was out to harm their baby. The husband said he would have a talk with his mother the next day. When the next day did arrive her went to his mother’s house to visit her and have a talk with her as well. When he knocked on the door, there was no answer. He went to a neighbor’s house and asked them if everything was all right with his mother because she was not answering when he knocked on her front door. They both went to her house and knocked harder. When his mother came to the door, they both had a hard time understanding her because the tip of her tongue was missing!!!

I will post more in the future.  In the meantime, what are your paranormal experiences?
Sincerely,Steve.

I have had a few instances happen to me back when I was younger. I'd rather not go into explaining them completely but here's the basics. My mother and father were divorced when I was about 5 and my mother got re-married years later. The 2 of them would buy old houses and live in them for a year or 2 while fixing them up and decorating them from the time period that the house was built. They would then sell the house and make big profits, then go buy another one. There were a couple of these houses that I had some experiences in when I went to visit her. One house she had gave me nightmares and ill feelings when I slept in the one room. I could no longer sleep in that room and stopped visiting her over night. Later she tells me they had found out that in the early 1900's or so, someone blew their head off in the area that would have been that room (thanks bunches for putting me in there mom). There were a few other houses where I saw or heard things and there was even one house where I not only saw and heard things but I was physically touched (around the neck) for over 2 minutes by something that was not there. Do I believe in ghosts? I'm still not sure. I have joined a paranormal investigators group and am the head of a division of that group and I hope to someday be able to find proof for myself one way or the other. I'm skeptic but I do know what I experienced and I can't explain it.
There was also the time that I was about 20 and my sister and I saw a light hovering above the lake that we lived near. It hovered there for hours, never moving, until we both eventually fell asleep. It had never been there before and never showed up again after. I'll call it a UFO only because I couldn't identify it and it was flying but I can't say for sure that it was an alien.
