THE DEVIL CAME FROM AKASAVA (1971) - This German film directed by Spain director Jess Franco is kinda like an international intrigue film with different people trying to get hold of this special stone that has some kind of radioactive effects on people who come in contact with it. The stone looks like a large crystal that is kept in a metalic suitcase. The film stars Soledad Miranda who also did VAMPYROS LESBOS (1971) the same year. She died shortly after both films were made in a car accident in Portugal. She plays an agent of sort an her cover is an exotic dancer. The music really helps make this film as it is a groovy 70's tune with some of that Turkish influence like in VAMPYROS LESBOS (1971)

Did the stone make the women slutty? lol..just looking at the cover
And who's the devil, why was he coming from akasava and here was he going?

Seirously - what did the stone do, what was it's power? I always wondered what was inside the briefcase in Pulp Fiction. Maybe it was the stone! ;-)

You know you brought up a good point about the box in both THE DEVIL CAME FROM AKASAVA and PULP FICTION.

When exposed to the stone a persons skin would darken as if burnt and they would lay in bed dying from radiation. They didn't talk and layed with eyes wide open. Contaminated.

Not sure "who" the devil was suppose to be. I guess the stone because it caused such chaos.

Well i'm trying to think of what became of those who had the briefcase, it wasn't a pretty ending (pulp). Vincent looked at it and he ended up killed in the end. Now Ringo saw it too, but who knows how his fate would remain to be seen. But on any other day he would have been shot, it was jules who let him go because of an act of god.

Those guys had it in their apt and they all ended up dead. It belonged to (or was supposed to be delivered to) marcellus who had the mysterious bandaid on the back of his neck that some speculate is the sign of the devil.

Everyone speculates something religious because it glows..maybe it was glowing because of radiation ;-)  Quentin's filmmaking style appearsly largely influenced by movies like this, kung fu, who knows. But that is a totally different topic!

The title of this movie had to come from something in the movie, maybe someone in the film was the devil but it was never quite revealed that way.

Any other filmmaker, and I'd tend to agree.  Franco throws out the rules, though.
If it's anything like his "Future Women", then I wanna see this "The Devil Came From Akasava".

On a side note: I'm looking forward to recieving my copy of the `67 flick, "Emerald of Avatama" soon.  :-)
