Another half-baked, 1980's Stephen King movie (although his ill-advied movie directing stint didn't start, and end, until a few years later).

The premise seem a bit weak from the getgo.

The third act with the troll battling the cat was pretty dumb.

The 2nd story was perhaps the the best of the 3, but that's not really high praise.

The first act  about the smoking clinic garnered some unintentional laughs.

All in all, a not a very good movie where none of the parts add up.

Isn´t that one of the characteristics of most of the King-Movies.
For example: "Tommyknockers"

"Scontri stellari oltre la terza dimensione"

Have you read the short stories on which these, and Maximum Overdrive are based?  They are in Night Shift and/or his other anthologies.

The short story "Trucks" that was the basis of MO was pretty good, as were the others that were the basis of the acts in Cat's Eye.  Read the stories.

Bodie:      I've been giving myself shock treatments.
Professor Hathaway: Up the voltage.

Reading the stories won't make the movies any better.

Ha.  Very true!  I just meant that the stories are actually pretty good (imo) and not to judge the 'story' presented in the movie solely on the movie.  The Quitter's Inc. story (about stopping smoking) was MUCH better than the movie portrayed.
