Hello,

I just wrapped up filming my first "big" budget film. At a record breaking $2,000-$4,000 budget for film and processing, this 15 minute ghost story is on its way to the lab. It's called "Not Alone" and stars a friend of my friend, Craig, and a girl who came down from New York who played the part of the ghost. We pulled a theater major from Appalachian State University to play the killer, and the theater director to play a co-worker. We shot on 16mm using 400T Kodak film for our interior scenes, 35mm using 64D Fuji stock for our exterior scenes, and a little DVX that we'll crumple up in a ball and throw in a corner to make look like Super8. I directed a few of the scenes and did a large portion of the camera work as well as most of the gaffer work.

This was my first time shooting 16mm and 35mm and let me tell you, there is nothing in this world like it. If you have never done it, I highly recommend it. When that camera hits speed and the flicker of the spinning mirror hits your eye, oh man let me tell you it's so damn cool. We shot on Arriflex cameras and Zeiss lenses. Don't look for any kind of theatrical release on this bad boy, nor DVD by any major distributor..... maybe a few burned by hand for family and friends. What a learning experience this was. There's nothing like diving head first into your first major project with nothing but a little knowledge of the equipment and a willing crew.

So there's no real gossip on the movie, or a good story for that matter, but I thought I would let this board know that one of its members is contributing to the world of bad movies and movie making in general. Good stuff.

Good point - the movie hasn't been edited yet nor has it been sync'ed with sound. We're waiting for the flim to come back from the lab to begin editing. I'll keep you posted.

Good Job

My friend and I started up a studio called Philagape Productions

Philagape is taken from two hebrew words of love... Phileo = Brotherly Love and Agape = Unconditional Love since our films tend to star our friends as well as our crew being all our friends we found this to be an appropriate name.

Currently we're working on a film called "still Fighting It" which is going to be shown at local colleges (to start) about racial inequalities on college campuses (not exact my favorite script idea but it's getting our company out there so whateve

Anyway... Scottie, I'm friends with a lot of local bands in this area if you need some music for your film I'm sure they'd be more than happy to give you there songs for real cheap (if not free)

Let me know if there's anyway I can help you

Oh if you want to check out the company website www.philagape.com

If you burn me a DVD, I'll gladly pay you for  it.  Let me know when it's finished.

Aw, man, I bet you had the time of your life . . .
Whenever we shoot with the 16mm Bolex or the Airflex out here, we always put a strip of tape down the side of the camera, and write upon it:  "Panavision" --
It's a little joke, but it never fails to get a laugh --
Hope someone sees your film & offers you some money --

I have no idea what this means.
