Fandango movie tickets

Occasionally (especially if it's a movie that is likely to have long lines at the boxoffice or may be sold out), I purchase tickets online through Fandango and print them at home.  To me, it's worth the extra $1 per ticket to avoid standing in line or being told the movie is sold out.

Anyway, last Friday afternoon I bought Fandango tickets for a Friday evening showing of WAR OF THE WORLDS.  Fandango sent me a follow-up e-mail asking me to take a survey about the movie.

The survey never asked anything about whether I enjoyed the movie.  Instead, it asked numerous questions about:

1.  Product placement - - Did I remember which products appeared in the movie?  What was my attitude toward the products in the movie?  Would I be likely to buy them?  And they asked several questions specifically about Hitachi.

2.  Movie trailers - - Which trailers did I see before the movie?  How likely am I to go to see those movies?  What are the reasons why I would (or would not) go to see these movies?

So, I guess movies are really all about : 1) advertising tangible products, and 2) advertising other movies.  Nobody really gives a damn about whether you liked the movie or not.  They mostly care about whether the movie encouraged you to spend more money on something else.  I've been sucked in by capitalism again.  I feel so dirty.
