Title pleas

I was wondering if you guys could help me with a movie i saw before i could even spell properly, it's about a guy who breeds some sort of grasshopper-looking insects that grow out of nutshells or somethin, those shells end up in a hole in the guy's yard and when thousands of them hatch they fly out and start killing people including the original guy.Can't remember the title since it's so old (1978?) I wanna see if i can get a copy somewhere, thanks guys!
