Dammit, Megaforce isn't on DVD!

I love this rotten movie. I remember when it came out about the same time as E.T. In fact, I recall the time I saw E.T. for the umpteenth time and my brother went to see Megaforce at the theatre next door. Since Megaforce was shorter, and ended sooner, he came over when the movie was over and watched the ending of E.T. He said something like: "God, Megaforce sucked".

But that gave me a bigger incentive to watch it on cable. It initally didn't come on HBO, but instead Cinemax. And since we didn't have Cinemax, I tried like hell to move antenna around on the top of the t.v. to get Cinemax just to watch Megaforce.

I even had a couple of the Matchbox Megaforce vehicles.

But the movie really is rotten: the thread bare plot, cheesy acting, obvious stunts, bad f.x. etc. etc. etc. And you gotta love the blue screen "magic" at the end with the flying motor cycle.

Since everything else is making it's way to DVD...
WHERE THE HELL IS THIS GOD DAMN MOVIE?!?!

Is this the film with Barry Bostwick?  The one where he 'thumbs' a kiss to the girl as he rides off on the closing gate of a transport plane?

It's a favorite of mine as well.  I remember hunting down the theme music - finally found it on Napster back when it was free.  It got some radio airplay back in the day.

My favorite part of the movie is when they bring the representatives of some foreign government to see the Megaforce facility, and these goofy guys start jumping over their car and pulling wheelies on their dirt bikes - then they stop and strike the "ain't we just as cool as it gets?" pose.  Priceless!  Like, we've just hired the local motocross club to defend our country.  We're in good hands.
