COP LAND (1997) - Starring Sylvester Stallone,  Harvey Keitel, and even Robert De Nero star in this very good police/mob film. It's a simple film that stands out because of Sylvester Stallone and Harvey Keitel. Stalone put on wieght for this one and it shows. I remember when the film came out and they were talking about Stallones planned wieght gain. Tonight is the first time I've seen this film. Good film.

Harvey Keitel is excellent in whatever he does.  Catch him in one of his earlier films, called 'The Duelist', set during the Napoleonic war

Scott

Keitel during the Napoleonic Wars ! Now that is one I must find. I really like all Napoleonic era films. My favorite being WATERLOO. Thanks for the info Shadowphile. It's on my list..........

I remember liking this film...though it's been years since I've seen it.
The only scene I can ever recall in it is when Stallone gets a gun shot off near his head and he can't hear.

Any time, Scott.  For me it's the fencing.

This film was a very pleasant surprise when it was released. Who could have guessed old Sly still could act... He should be driving this road more foten, and stop adding roman bumerals to dead horses.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

This one took a 2nd viewing for me before I realized why I liked it so much - Freddy tries to do the right thing and always getting snubbed for it over the course of his whole life - but he keeps doing the right thing when lesser folks would have given up.

Great movie.

While on a journey, Chuang Tzu found an old skull, dry and parched.
With sorrow, he questioned and lamented the end of all things.
When he finished speaking, he dragged the skull over and, using it for a pillow, lay down to sleep.
In the night, the skull came to his dreams and said, 'You are a fool to rejoice in the entanglements of life.'
Chuang Tzu couldn`t believe this and asked, 'If I could return you to your life, you would want that, wouldn`t you?'
Stunned by Chuang Tzu`s foolishness, the skull replied, 'How do you know that it is bad to be dead?'

Yep.  He's a great character, and a great film too.  I've considered buying it..  Maybe next time I see a good deal on it.

Stallone is at his best when playing a parody of his other film rolls.
