INVASION OF THE NEPTUNE MEN (1961) - Early b/w movie from Japan and produced by Tohei Company. They really re-enforce the idea of science in this film for the kids. A group of kids spend the entire film running around and talking about the aliens, science, and their new hero Space Chief played by a very young Sonny Chiba. The destruction of the city is well done as usual with these Japanese Sci-Fi/Monster/Alien films. Also Sonny Chiba has a car that can fly like a space rocket and of course all the kids want one. Good yet typical of these great Japanese films. This one isn't the best of these films, but is fun to watch. The spaceship action, rockets, and city destruction are done as only Japanese cinema knows how to do. Viewed the whole film from Mr. Lobo's website. Thanks Mr. Lobo.

Looks like Mystery Theater 3000 also did this film.

:) Oh, I can't even think about this movie without laughing... I've never seen the regular version of this one (just the Mst3k version), but I did see the regular US version of "Prince of Space" and wow, what a mindf**k! "Warning From Space" is much better than either of these (and in color), but is much lighter on the destruction, despite the subject matter (doom & gloom from space). I found "Dogora" to be a pretty good variation on this subgenre, but "Ghidrah, the 3 Headed Monster" was undoubtly my favorite.

INVASION OF THE NEPTUNE MEN is a bit like WARNING FROM SPACE and EVIL BRAIN FROM OUTER SPACE.

EVIL BRAIN FROM OUTER SPACE with Starman is the better of this bunch in my opinion.

"Better" is here a word with that needs a loooooot of explaining.
I mean....better then root canal, petting a porcupine, finding out your proctologist has an unhealthy facination with power tools....i mean, we need defined terms here people!

P.s. 3 words ..."The Hitler Building!"
"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

Scott

That hero name in this movie is out there. He's called Space Chief and yes Sonny Chiba our hero.

I love this film as well as all the Prince of Space ones.  I always get a kick out of these.

There is a scene where the Neptune Men vaperize some people and they leave stained silloettes against the walls just like when the dropped the atom bombs on Japan in WWII.

Take it from someone who's seen just about every Godzilla movie there is, when I first got a look at "the Guardian", I had to step away from the tv and make sure I wasn't hallucinating. That's one creepy looking monster...

Oh, and your weapons won't work on me... haha!
