The Burgomaster

This movie is in the HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS 50 MOVIE PACK.  It has some mild swearing and violence in it, but it appears to be an edited version.  For instance, sometimes, when someone is about to swear, the audio cuts out or the scene jumps.  Also, from some of the discussions I read on IMDB, it seems like a good amount of sex and graphic violence are also missing from the HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS version.  Most of the people on the IMDB boards say stuff like "make sure you see the uncut version," which supposedly has some pretty disturbing scenes.

Anyway, get a load of the cast:

* Lee Marvin (the sheriff)
* Richard Burton (with a Southern accent - one of the few guys in town who isn't in the KKK)
* Cameron Mitchell
* David Huddleston (the mayor)
* Lola Falana
* Luciana Paluzzi
* O.J. Simpson

The story involves racial hatred in an Alabama town and includes the usual cliches: a white woman is raped and a black man is blamed; high profile townsfolk (such as the mayor) are in the KKK; black men are hunted by angry Klan members, etc.

The highlight is O.J. Simpson, who becomes sort of a "rural commando" - - he lurks around in the woods and kills Klan members.

Interesting note:  this was directed by Terence Young, who directed some of the early James Bond movies.

Overall, the movie is pretty boring (maybe the shocking, uncut version is better).
"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."
