Anyone seen "Romasanta: The Werewolf Hunt" yet?

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this one so far, and according to the IMDB it has already been released in the USA. It is easily the best film so far produced by the Fantastic Factory, the European studio that also made "Beyond Re-animator", "Dagon" and "Darkness", among others.

I could see it more than a year ago (in my country, all the films from that studio have had a theatrical run). It is a very different film from the above mentioned, a sort of Spanish Hammer attempt. It tells the story, inspired by real events, of Romasanta, a serial killer that terrorised one of Spain's more isolated regions, Galicia, during the XIXth century, and features Julian Sands and Elsa Pataky (Beyond Re-animator) in the main roles.

If you happen to see a DVD copy of this one, I strongly advise you to rent it, it is a serious horror film, and a very good one, despite the studio involved. Director Paco Plaza's earlier effort, a thriller called "The Second Name", based upon a Ramsey Campbell novel, is also worthwhile, although more low-key.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Based on the trailer it looked great!  I didn't realize a U.S. release had been issued; I was saving up for an R2 release.  Any idea what the U.S. DVD is like?  Original language vs. dubbed, etc?

Neville

Dunno. There's some talking about it at its IMDB entry board, go check it out:

Don't expect anything like the previous Fantastic Factory efforts, nor even remotely similar to "Brotherhood of the Wolf".

Elsa Pataky?  That'll be my core reason for seeing the film.

Thanks for the recommendation Neville!

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

Couldn't find it on Netflix, but I found it after a bit of tweaking.

The American release is called "Werewolf Hunter" (terrible title).  Just put it in my Netflix list.

Apparently it has been released by LIONS GATE under the title "Werewolf Hunter - Legend of Romasanta (2004)".

Didn't see Skaboi's post.  Sorry.  I agree that it's a terrible title.
