A couple of questions...

After Bond gets poisoned, he grabs a salt shaker and a glass, takes them into the restroom and drinks saltwater.
How does that counteract poison?

And what type of liquid poison is there that would cause the quick reaction it did within Bond's body?

Anyone?

Neville

Drinking salt water (or coffee with salt) provokes vomit, and that should minimize the effect of any poison, but only if it has been ingested. I guess that is what gives him time to reach his car and contact his superiors.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

One other question...

SLIGHT SPOILER!!

When Le Chiffre was torturing Bond, was he hitting him in the nuts with that rope with the weight on the end of it?
I could've sworn that the seat Bond was sitting in had the bottom cut out of it.

Is that what he was doing?

Well with all the jokes Bond was making about Le Chiffre "scratching his balls," I would've thought that would've been obvious.

And, I voted for Timothy Dalton, if only because I'm afraid I don't really care what actor is in the role; I focus on the movies in and of themselves, and the two Dalton films just happen to be my favorites.

Neville

I love the first one, "The living daylights", even if Dalton's Bond is too much suave for my taste. But "License to kill" is a stinker, a pure 80s revenge action thriller that has little to do with the series. The final truck chase, however, is still one of my favourite action scenes in the whole series.

License to Kill wasn't too bad.  I enjoyed it at least.

The great thing about Living Daylights and License to Kill were the theme songs.  Just pure 80s brilliance really.

Neville

Yes. And John Barry's score in "Ther living daylights" is one of his best.

Neville and Kooshmeister are right. In the book Le Chiffre hits him down low with a carpet beater while Bond is tied to a chair with the woven seat cut out, the rope makes a better visual. Also I don't think it was a weight, it looked like a large knot known as a Monkey's Fist. I saw lines with such knots on the ends when I went sailing in high school, so it makes sense for one to be on a ship like that. They give a little weight to the end of the line when tossing it. Those knots are solid and hurt like hell when hit in a non-sensitive spot with one. Don't want to think about being hit in the jewels with one.
blah blah stuff blah blah obscure pop culture reference blah blah clever turn of phrase blah blah bad pun blah blah bad link blah blah zzzz.....

I watched Casino Royale like 3 weeks ago and tried searching for this old thread but couldn't find it.
Oh well...it's back now.

Awesome film!

I thought Craig kicked ass as Bond.
What a fantastic performance!

!!Slight Spoiler!!

The middle part of the movie where Bond plays that extremely high stakes game of poker was my favorite.
I love the game of poker and to watch Bond risk it all in a single game was great.
Especially when he gets poisoned and comes so close to actually dying and has to try and shock himself with the defibrillator.
That scene was absolutely riveting.

WATCH BOND GET POISONED

!!End Slight Spoiler!!

I give it 3.5 stars out of 4.

If you haven't seen it yet...you should definitely check it out.

By the way...this entire thread should be moved to the "Good Movies" section

Bond is so tough he's the only guy that can die and still come back to win.

"That last hand nearly killed me", genius.

If God exists, why did he make me an atheist? Thats His first mistake.

Psycho Circus

Awful film. Not bond, just a load of fake explosions made to grab the money of idiots.
