I wish they were but they would last 15 minutes here. These are from a town called Harbun, in Northern China. They do this every year.  :smile:

Think chainsaw. I don't know about those pictured on this thread, but to make one, the sculptor usually starts off using a chainsaw to cut the ice into its basic shape. Then he or she uses a hammer and chisel to get the detail It's surprisingingly interestingly to watch someone make an ice sculpture.

The Sapporo Festival is famous for its ice and snow sculptures.  That is where I had first thought that these pictures must be from.
