"Thank you for appreciating my descent into deviant behavior, Mr. Reese." - Harold Finch

Robert
Andrew
Jacoby.

figured it was simple enough to use my initials.

And Poogie, I think we get the message.

Doc Daneeka

I thought Mr. Briggs Inc. just sounded sinister for a while. Then I picked back through my comic collection and found I learned the name "Mr. Briggs" from Aliens Vs. Predator: War.

For the latest on the fifth installment in Don Coscarelli's Phantasm saga.

Gerry

Gerry is short for Gerald, which means "Mighty with Spear".  My wife thinks I am aptly named.

Cute story: Milligan was once under suspicion for murder when a prostitute turned up murdered (nailed to a fence and stabbed to death) the night before an identical death was filmed for a character in GURU, THE MAD MONK. Some of Andy's friends felt he may have been out the night before "practicing" for the next day's shoot. When asked about it years later, Milligan would only giggle.

His films include THE GHASTLY ONES, THE RATS ARE COMING! THE WEREWOVES ARE HERE!, FLESHPOTS OF 42ND AVENUE, and THE BLOODTHIRSTY BUTCHER. Costumes, sets, and production design by "Raffine".

I heard alot of Milligan's films has been lost. Do you think that there is a chance that they will resurface?

According to Jimmy McDonough's essential Milligan bio The Ghastly One Milligan's last producer Lew Mishkin, the son of Milligan's original producer the legendary William Mishkin, got tired of paying for the storage of the negatives of all the films he and his father had produced over the years so he tossed them all in the trash.

Of the twenty or so films Milligan made about half are now considered lost. The Milligan films that survive are battered, faded prints which wound up in some grindhouse storage room. Several of them are badly edited (well, so to speak). The one exception to this is the print discovered for Something Weird's DVD release of THE BODY BENEATH. The title sequence has the same washed-out, streaked print look but it suddenly switches to a pristine print revealing all the glories of 70's 16mm.

It's possible a print of THE NAKED WITCH or THE FILTHY FIVE may turn up one of these days. Heck, somebody found a pristine complete print of Carl T. Dreyer's LA PASSION DE JEANNE D'ARC (1929) a couple of years ago in the janitorial  closet of a madhouse in Oslo, so a beautiful print of GUTTER TRASH or TRICKS OF THE TRADE may be buried in your granny's closet!!
If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

Yaddo 42

Yaddo is the name of a real house with a "shadowed" history (the owners were trying to explain the history to their child who pronounced "shadowed" as "yaddo") that was mentioned in a biography I read about pianist/composer/racontuer/wit/drug addict Oscar Levant about the same time I went online. I was unaware of the writer's colony located there at the time.

42 because I needed a number for my email with that name and I didn't want to keep enter numbers until one was available, Douglas Adams and the HHGTTG and the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything came to my rescue.
blah blah stuff blah blah obscure pop culture reference blah blah clever turn of phrase blah blah bad pun blah blah bad link blah blah zzzz.....

So, what was the question?

Wrong thread, I know, but major kudos for the Ignatz avatar.

I've had Jay Cantor's 1987 novel Krazy Kat on my shelf for years; I really need to pull that one down and read it again.

I could never with a clear conscience recommend anyone watch (let alone buy) any Andy Milligan film still in existence. If Ed Wood is the "Fine Wine" of Bad Movie makers, Milligan is the "Toxic Jailhouse Moonshine which was Filtered through an Unclean Sweaty 300lb Granny-Molester's Filthy Socks" of Bad Movie  makers.

That said, Video Kart has a nifty double feature of THE RATS ARE COMING! ETC./BLOODTHIRSTY BUTCHERS.

Something Weird has that great print of THE BODY BENEATH, which is probably the best film Milligan made... but it's still a Milligan film.  :buggedout:
