I used to be good friends with the son of roxy's sax player andy mckay. had a few of jams with him (his son, not andy mckay) on guitar round his flat. it was about the time roxy reformed and did a world tour, 2004-ish.  last I heard he was trying to form a band, haven't seen him for a couple of years now though...
I love ROXY MUSIC; of their first 5 albums, there isn't one I don't love... Right now I'm enjoying quiet.
strangely enough I havent actually heard any of roxy music's albums in full. is there a best place to start do you reckon?
Diehards divide this band into eras (first two albums with ENO, next three classic ROXY, then later ROXY... though okay, I am still not a fan of Avalon their last...)  I am a fan of their first 5 albums.  The best place to start is at the beginning, with their debut album (I still think it's their best).

However, if you need great hooks and polished tunes, the best place to start would be Siren it's hot Pop Rock... then backwards to Country Life, then Stranded.  Save For Your Pleasure for last; it's perhaps their most challenging, and has some awesome moments, but it can be a downer.

VOX BOX collection MAURICE RAVEL Played by VLADO PERLEMUTER (this is the 1961 recordings). Perlemuter was considered the Ravel interpreter (he studied under Ravel).  I have not heard another pianist who can even play RAVEL (with the exception of the Queen's College 1975 world premiere of "Serenade Grotesque," a piece unpublished in Ravel's lifetime, played by ARBIE ORENSTEIN - since first posting this, I found my vinyl copy of that from the Musical Heritage Society--I expect out of print).  I also have the VOX BOX on vinyl - RAVEL!!!
