This is performed on a gi-normous organ at some Gothic Cathedral.  I've heard it said that Bach shouldn't be played on a huge organ, and I guess now I know why.  Those huge pipes take a little while to fill with air and begin resonating, so those intricate bass lines tend to lag behind by varying degrees.  The Toccata and Fugue in D Minor seems to have such obvious phrasing, yet everyone who performs it seems to have to take a massive dump on it.  This guy isn't as bad as some, but he still makes a minor mess out of it.  The fugue was really nice, just a couple bars of notes slurred together at one point.   You also get the Concerto No. 2 in A Minor, the Prelude and fugue in B minor and the Prelude and Fugue in D Major.  A nice mix of his early and late stuff.  Overall the majesty of this organ makes it worth the purchase.  The compositions themselves are fantastic.

I hadn't heard that about the size of the organs before.  I guess it makes sense, though, that it would sound best on the type of instrument Bach actually composed it for.  No need for a gi-normous organ performance; I've always been satisfied with my large organ performance.

I have the toccata & fugue as done by Karl Richter.  I think I like Richter's organ just based on the samples, sounds a little crisper.

Dave Brubeck Quartet - Paper Moon

Beautiful album from the underrated early 1980s version of the quartet with Jerry Bergonzi on tenor.

PHIL COLLINS - No Jacket Required

I still think "Long, Long Way To Go" is one the greatest pieces of music I have ever heard and will ever hear.
I don't particularly like Phil Collins as a person, but he makes fantastic music. 10/10

THE DICKIES - Killer Klowns From Outer Space

Listening to a real mix of stuff today, not been in my usual heavy-metal mood.
