I'm listening to Dimmu Borgir's  "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" at the moment.

Gotta love the cover of the old Twisted Sister song. :teddyr:

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

They're a Norwegian Black Metal band.
Actually, the've kind of evolved into more of a symphonic black metal of sorts. I don't listen to much Black Metal but they're excellent.
I looked them up after your posting; they are highly regarded and apparently exactly as you describe.  I think I will buy "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia;" if I can listen to HOOVERPHONIC, I can listen to DIMMY BORGIR!

Been listen to Gill Scott Heron who was a political singer from early 80's. I didn't agree with everything he said as he was anti-Reagan and I was pro, but I respected his music.

This is a live concert version of B MOVIE ... not as good as the studio version, but still pretty good.

I remember Gil Scott Heron and enjoyed that clip, too, but not sure I agree with you, CHEEZEE, about "Ray-gun," as Heron might have put it.

You can see in your video posting the influence of FASTER, p***yCAT! KILL! KILL!  I'm not a fan of Rob or White... to me, it's kind of a retread, played out and boring, like his movie HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES.    But, it is a lot of fun . . . the best to you!

Dimmu Borgir's "singer" doesn't do that annoying high pitched black metal screaching that ruins most black metal.  He actually does a more mid range very lizardman sounding spoken word type thing while occasionally drifting down into a guttural vocal style at times.

but their bass player named Vortex   :teddyr: actually does clean vocal passages for the band and is a most excellent singer.

I would recommend picking up Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia, Death Cult Armageddon and their newest one In Sorte  Diaboli.

More old school fans of them might recommend Enthrone Darkness Triumphant or For All Tid to start out on, but the 3 previous albums I mentioned are the ones in which I think they really struck out and got their own unique style/sound.

I should also mention that the majority of the time you can actually completely understand the singer as well which is kind of unheard of in most black metal.  They started out singing their albums in Norwegian but on Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, they switched to mostly singing in English.

I saw White Zombie live back in 1996 in Roanoke, VA (which is where I live as well).

It was pretty good but Rob got out of breath by about the 3rd song and it really took away from their performance. They also were relying very, very heavily on ADATS to fill out their on stage sound.

I thought back in the day that their female bass player Sean Yselut was very pretty in her own unique way.

I've been listening to ROXY MUSIC's Stranded, but I'm sick of it, and just now switched to a SUMMER mix including cocktail lounge jazz like Cal Tjader, Della Reese, plus The Astronauts, Johnny Nash, Sarah Vaughn, Jimi Hendryx, Mel Torme, The Ventures, Perez Prado and more!

Made me think of Thelonius Monk's "Epistrophe" listening to it now in a 40s jazz collection.

I'd guess as much, seeing its prominent ranking in your Top 10 list... I don't care for the phrase "of all time," but it's just a pet peeve  :teddyr:
Added my list and am now listening to ROXY MUSIC: Siren because you caused me to think of it.  What a great pop rock album.  Maybe the best...
