Hate quoting myself, but this is a 2-Disc set, and today I'm listening to Disc 2.  First disc is their earlier stuff, which is based more in a bluesy style, and the second disc is some of their more 'poppy' stuff, like "Legs", "Sharp Dressed Man", "Gimme All your Lovin" and "Doubleback."
"The path to Heaven runs through miles of clouded Hell."

Don't get too close, it's dark inside.

Greatest Hits - Sugababes (for Girl Power motivation)

Try Whistling This - Neil Finn (because it's a brilliant album and I'm seriously in love with this guy!)

Together Alone - Crowded House (see Neil Finn comment above)

Continuum - John Mayer (probably his best album to date)

Flower, gleam and glow

Change the fates' design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine

I like John Mayer.  So far I only have Room For Squares, but the guy's good.

John Mayer is awesome.  I caught him on Austin City Limits a few weeks ago...great show.

The guy's never written a bad song.  I don't think he's capable.  I also like the way his songs rhyme, but the lines all fit and he doesn't throw in words just to fit the rhyming scheme.  Plus he's the only songwriter who consistenly writes songs I can relate to in my own life.

Although Tori Amos is my favourite, I find her songs too full of metaphor and imagery to be of any real use to me in understanding what she's singing about.

Mayer is a true case of the song telling a coherent story with an easy rhyming scheme.
