2011 release and one of their best records ever. Is the album that should have followed 1985's Seven Wishes. It's just classic Night Ranger throughout, retaining their sound and with a good blend of mature writing and upbeat tunes. I love it when the older 80s bands crank out a modern album that you don't expect will blow you away.

Forget Flogging Molly and other Irish punk/rock bands. The Pogues are the real deal. The Pogues were a unique act when they came on the scene in the 80's, and bands like Floggy Molly and Dropkick Murphys are simply ripoff bands for Plastic Paddy's to slam to on St. Pats. As you can see, I tend to detest those other bands I allude to. The Pogues unwittingly gave birth to a sub-genre that tends to annoy me, but I do love the original in this case. It's kind of similar to how I feel about artists like Robert Johnson in comparison to the thousands of wanking bluesmen that came after.

Anyway, I've been listening to these two albums alot. Everthing they did after these two pale in comparison. This was their high-water period.

Agree with everything you say, except that I haven't listened to enough Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphy's to discount them.  The Pogues are definitely in my personal top 10 rock acts of all time, and those are their two best albums (though "Peace and Love" is not that far behind for me).

Peace and Love ain't bad, and you can hear the connection to that period to be sure. I used to own that on vinyl along with the other two and listened to them alot. However, I always found myself listening to the first two much more. I think Shane MacGowan's alcohol issue started to affect his reliability quite a bit by this point.

Peace and Love is their only one I own, but it's probably not their best.   Thumbup

Errol Garner, Concert by the Sea

AHD: Flick and I will both tell you if you like PEACE AND LOVE you should check out IF I SHOULD FALL FROM GRACE WITH GOD (their best). RUM, SODOMY & THE LASH has an even more traditional Irish sound.

Yep, that's why I rarely take others recommendations anymore.  Too much already on my plate to check out.

Sanctuary - Into The Mirror Black (1991)

Best Track: "Seasons Of Destruction"

Still awaiting news on the reunion album that is currently in the works, gone back and given this another spin as it's been a few months. I appear to have got over my funk/folk phase and feel in more of a classic heavy metal mood again.
