Amusingly, Inyarear wrote a reader review for this one that I should be posting next week.  He and I have been pming back and forth about it for the last two days.

Along the lines of inappropriate, if your wife-to-be is so young that you can give her a doll as a present (and she will play with it, vice put it on a shelf), there is something wrong.

I do love the whole bit about Jennie's poor little piglet that happens early on in the film.  "Oh, my poor little pig!" is what she cries out when she sees it stuck in the mud.  She then tries to help the piglet and falls flat on her face in the pig sty.  Nobody told her that the pig must have been happy as, well, as a pig would be in a mud-filled sty.
