RAISING CAIN (1992) - A Brian De Palma film starring John Lithgow as the abused son of a psychologist. When the son becomes and adult he also becomes a psychologist and they use children to study their theories. Because of the abused childhood of Lithgow's character he has developed multiple personalities. Though they cover the subject matter well it's hard to watch this film with Lithgow because I keep thinking of his comedic character in 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN when I see him. Other than that the films subject matter is rather creepy and the film has some creepy moments much like PSYCHO. It's hard to follow the story because the scenes jump around from reality and Lithgows multiple points of view.

 (6 out of 10 Stars) Could be more stars for some other viewers.

SPOILER!

My favorite part of this really odd film was at the very end when a character that look just like Lithgow's Roberta Muldoon from THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP makes a very brief cameo.
If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

What's also weird is De Palma used the trench coat face hidden Lithgow much like he did with Micheal Caine in DRESSED TO KILL.

I saw it and thought it was alright.  The dream and the forbodding statue was scary.  However other parts were just weird like the women personality of his.
