I got to see the 1986 thriller F/X which stars Bryan Brown and Brian Dennehy last night.

Man, I haven't seen this movie in years.  For those who haven't seen it Bryan Brown plays a special effects technician who works on splatter/horror movies and is considered one of the best in the business.  He's hired by a witness protection agency to fake a murder on a mob suspect under their care and he takes them up on it. But things get complicated really quick.  This is one of these movies that the less you know about it the more enjoyable it is.

The part I had forgotten about was how Bryan has to use his special effects knowledge to get himself out of quite a few sticky situations.

The movie while very cheesy at times is still enjoyable as a nice B movie diversion.  While highly implausible throughout, if you don't think about it too much it's a lot of fun at times. The sequel however was complete rubbish from what I remember of it.

Anyone else have any opinions of F/X?

Heard it's good, but haven't seen it yet.

Want to though.  It usually pops on cable, but at the most inopportune times.  I'm usually heading out the door or something.

I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out, and then again a zillion times on cable. It's a fun film, even if it stretches believability at times. I have not seen it in years and really need to sit down and give it another look. I heard the sequel was crap, so I never bothered to watch it.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

I 'F'ing love this movie.   I haven't seen it in years, though.  Back when it came out, I thought it was one of the most clever suspense movies and was surprised that no one had done it sooner.  Cheesy moments and spotty acting are more than made up for with good ideas.

I need to get this on my Netflix list right now.

Ebert actually gave F/X 3 1/2 stars out of 4. I didn't know he thought that highly of the movie.

He gave the sequel only 2 stars however.  I would give the sequel 1/2 stars out of 4 in addition to 3 stars for the original flick.
