Soon....with the lights out.

And this isn't my first viewing.

BTW how's the remake?
Now it's time to sing the nation anthem IN AMERICA!!!

I hated the remake though R. Lee Ermey rules in it as always.

You will absolutely love the original.  I would also recommend checking out the sequel if you haven't seen it already.

I already love the original. This is my third viewing. I thought the second film was the lessest of the sequels. May be I will try it but my expectations are going to be low.

Good election!! I hate the remake and its MTV sthetic...the original is so creepy and has incredible scenes, I can't forget "the girl in the hook", what do you think about it?

RCMerchant

Right up there in my top ten...of all time!!! My favorite scene is the bone room-it's so over blown it would be funny...except that dam chicken in the tiny birdcage...for some reason that sets it right off....and makes it terrifying. I dunno....always creeps me out.

Speaking of psycho killers...I just caught  Joan Crawford in STRAIGHT JACKET last night for the first time! Wow! A very under rated movie! The scene where Arthur Kennedy gets his head lopped of is still a shocker! Started to watch 13 GHOSTS afterwards...but I feel asleep, dammit! I never seen that one either!!!
Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)

I'm one of the people that has always felt that TCM is a seriously overrated film.  I originally watched it after hearing hype for years and years, and it was a big let down.  I appreciate the film for what it is, and what it has accomplished but I just don't find it frightening or worth the praise that has been heaped upon it.

That being said, I love the sequel.  It's basically a parody of everything from the first, but it's a fun film.  The remake on the other hand, is trash.  I can't believe I paid to see it in the theater.

The original is a classic, but I enjoyed the remake too.  It was just flat brutal!  But I didn't care much for  TCM: THE BEGINNING which came out last year.

I'm actually probably in the minority as far as liking the remake with Jessica Biel and R. Lee Ermey.  But I do like the original.  TCM 2 was decent as well.

Plus, the original TCM gets a  from me, because the Hitch-hiker was played by the dude who later played Lord Zedd for like, 4 seasons of Power Rangers.

I didn't hate the remake.  It was okay.  Ermey was great in it.  I wasn't too crazy about the "re-imagining" of Leatherface.

The original is just a classic.  It was simple and the deaths were brutal and almost too real.  (i.e.- the guy getting hit in the head with a hammer).  I mean, they had people leaving the theater and protests back when it came out.  Maybe it's a little tame by today's standards but it's impact resonates in today's horror movies.

Great movie, great remake, too.

My only problem with the remake was how brown it is, for some reason. Just everything in the film is just... brown. And it all seems to be shot through a brown filter.

But yeah I'd say both are worthwhile movies.

QuoteI would also recommend checking out the sequel if you haven't seen it already.
While I'd advise against it. I thought the sequel was an absolute joke.

I much prefer the sequel.  Then again, I don't care for the original that much.  TCM 2 plays out like a spoof of the original while also being a good horror film.

I love the original. Its a perfect example of the "less is more" philosophy, its always thought  to be such a gory bloody movie yet there is almost no blood in it. What makes the movie so iconic is the atmosphere, the house and the family and some of the creepiest things ever put on film, and this is still one of the very few movies can not eat and watch at the same time, Faces of death doesn't phase me but the bone room in TCM gets me every time.Go figure.

I'm talking about the Dennis Hopper sequel, not the sequel (or prequel) to the remake.

As for the Hopper sequel, there's just so many great and memorable lines in it. I've always taken the sequel as being a satire of the original. It's much more of a black comedy than outright horror.

So was I. I thought the sequel to the original movie was a joke.

Plus there's the whole thing with Primus sampling Chop Top in "Jerry Was a Racecar Driver."  That rocks too.
