Anyone remember that final line from Stand By Me, where the guy types in, "I've never had closer friends than when I was 12."

I can relate to that.  (Course, I think it my case it'd be 11, as I moved in fifth grade, but that's a WHOLE nother story.)

Cherish those friends always but hold out hope for even greater tomorrows, and for what it's worth, I do think your life is about to change for the better in many ways.

Just got a really positive review of "GODSMACKDOWN!!!" from someone who likes to read mythology (and even got the Yahweh reference). Cheered me up a good bit tonight.

So, they have a thread for deep thinking called "Deep Thoughts" but I was thinking if they ever wanted to do one for stupid thoughts, they could call it "Derp Thoughts"

Alex

Was thinking about watching a different William Shatner movie every night for a month. Maybe November (or perhaps Shatvember?).

Take heart, that probably means you're normal. :-)

Me, I've almost always been more comfortable in nearly every situation dealing with men.

Hope anyone in the path of bad weather stays safe. Will be thinking of you today.

My dad, who spent time dealing with Germans when I was little, was expansive today on the subject of the failings of socialism

He said in West Berlin he saw people treated pencils like we do in the United States, taking them for granted because being made by private companies for profit they were cheap, but in East Germany people used pencils until they were worn down to tiny nubs because by the time the government bureaucracy got finished interfering with their production and delivery, pencils ended up being prohibitively expensive.

I think that serves as a lesson within a metaphor.

Went to post something really funny, but couldn't find the thread I was looking for to post it on (ok, normally after about 7 seconds of looking for a thread if I haven't found it, I'll post it elsewhere so this normally wouldn't happen).

I then completely forgot what it was I wanted to post, and can't even remember where it was I wanted to post it.

Oh well, you'll just have to imagine this was something really funny instead and pretend it was what ever I originally intended to post.

I've noticed all zombie movies have the same flaw. If zomebies truly have lost all human knowledgeabd operate on purely instinctive behavior with no learned human knowledge,  they would be unable to walk. Humans are not natural bipeds. We evolved (like it or not) from arboreal primates.  Upright posture and bipedal locomotion are adaptations brought about by survival driven evolution. A human is still not a natural biped,  humans do not have instinctive knowledfre how to walk up right,  we have the instincts of a quadraped still hardwired innohr brains.  A baby knows how to crawl on all fours, it must learn to walk.

Look at a baby chicken.  That's a natrual biped,  it's born with the ability to walk up right on two feet hardwired into it's brain,  it requires no teaching to learn bipedal motion.

If a Zombie lost all learned knowledge as he became a zombie,  the resultant unread would crawl on all fours as it lost the knowledge of h to walk upright which it was taught to as a small child.

Certainly in Romero's zombie films the zombies retain some knowledge (Night of the Living Dead, zombies are able to use simple tools, like rocks to break windows, Dawn of the Dead, the zombies remember that a shopping mall was an important place to them, Day of the Dead, Bud learns how to use a gun). I'd imagine all the other zombie films are similar in that respect.

Just out of curiosity, which edition of WH40K do you play? I played from 1st until the start of 4th where I just refused to pay GW prices any more. Still got all my old books etc and occasionally we have a game. Still got all my old figures kicking around in boxes in the garage including an original Land Raider, a full Terminator company and around 800 marines in total. Prefered my Imperial Guard though. Back in 1st ed we used to play 20k points a side, with me using marines and my friend using a combination of Chaos Renegades, Eldar, Orks, Imperial Guard and Genestealers (only way he could make a big enough army).
