My answer was "I was almost late to a class one day."

Wasn't there a time when calling on or stopping by a place to check up on a job application actually MEANT something?  Now all I hear is, "Well, if they're interested, they'll call you."

You see, I was taught that making an effort to follow up on a job appliation shows your dedication and interest.  Silly me!
