Event Horizon (1997) isn't scary or underrated. It's actually pretty bad.

Have you read my review on here? I found it scary in parts and downright implausible and silly in others.

I remember liking it the first time I saw it but the last time I watched it I was totally turned off.  Like they were trying to make a "horror" movie but following all the action movie cliches.  Made it too silly to be taken seriously.

I just did. It's one of those films the majority of people at message boards I hang out suddenly think is a forgotten gem, totally scary and criminally underrated. I'm always like "huh?" Did I miss something? Re-watched it the other night, and I'd say Event Horizon is about 45% bad. Cooper pretty much ruined the movie, Sam Neill's bad acting is embarrassing and the bad "Brian De Palma" ending is so bad I actually laughed out loud. Showing eyeless people saying silly things isn't scary in my book, and neither are sudden loud noises. The cherry on top was making the two most annoying/uninteresting characters the survivors  :bouncegiggle:
