Why is it, after years of being held up for long loud lectures of having our every little mistake or flaw pulled out of the air & thrown in our face & drilled into our head, we're told not to dwell on things?

The earliest December 27th in my diary.

Thursday December 27 1990

Today we got 7 inches of snow! I was sure the weather people were going to be wrong since it'd been like spring all week and most of this month but it piled down and it's fluffy and since it's hardly cold at all it's perfect for being out in. Went up and everybody was out and we all did everything together. The trees and power lines were covered and it just hung there and so the yard was a winter wonderland. And tonight the sky was pink-gray and shiny and it was bright enough out to read even really late. It's 11:34 now. I am going to go back out now. Dad is being cool about it cause he knows how rare snows like this are and how I love being out in them.

My daughters took their cousin out to a late movie tonight.
Driving my SUV because Rachel's car is tiny.
I'm nervous!!! LOL  :buggedout:

Totally understand.  When someone you love is in an uncertain situation that you're powerless to do anything about, it can make anyone nervous and fearful.

Oh, and I'm sure you're worried about your daughters too.

Some years ago an Appalachian Pentecostal pastor who was helping my one-time neighbor move after his wife's death stopped and told me he had never walked past someone and felt the presence of demons as strongly as he did in me. (I figured it was a holy roller pick-up line.)

Not quite a decade before that a faith healer associated with that same family told me I was "haunted, like a house is haunted."

And in between those times I was walking through an urban area with my eventual husband and we passed a notorious street woman who came out of an alley to shout at me that I was "filled with the devil head to foot."

It's enough to give me some sort of complex.

I think you've mentioned at least one of these instances before and it has been bothering me too.  I think that first one was a pick-up line too and I've come to the conclusion that all of those people must have thought you were extremely attractive and rather than own up to their own lust or jealousy, they decided it must be demons.

That reminded me of a time when I was in a diner really late one night with two friends and a strange man came over and kissed my female friend's hand and shook my male friend's hand.  He went to kiss my hand and I didn't let him.  He was cool with it at first and just started rambling on with weird stories but would keep stopping to ask if he could kiss my hand.  He held on to my male friends hand and kept squeezing it harder and harder every time I said no, and his little stories kept getting weirder.  He eventually told us he was the Devil and was going to go outside and disappear or something... I don't remember.  After he left, a guy from a table full of really big, well-dressed, scary looking mobster types came over and said "Ey - Just so you know, if he was gunna try anyting, we had yer back!"... I said thanks, but also thought that he DID try something and they didn't really do anything.

Happy lushings.

Now what?

Frankly, I wish we hadn't -

And this new year's eve was a heckuva joke. That could be a good sign - the opening of 2016 was lovely for me, a gorgeous view with lots of promise that would soon be botched. I doubt it. What we're seeing is a continuing downward turn. The earth has run out of dough, and it's been laying off all its extras. Expect to walk down the same halls you've been walking down but with noticeably fewer people. The future of homelessness is indoors.
