The is what Google had to say about salt in pasta water

QuoteAdding salt to water adds flavor to the water, which is absorbed by the food. ... Another reason salt is added to water is because it increases the boiling point of the water, meaning your water will have a higher temperature when you add the pasta, so it will cook better.

It adds flavor and it cooks better. I guess one of those is a proven fact, the other is debatable  :bluesad:

One of the reasons I don't add salt is because it increases the boiling point of the water, meaning it takes longer to boil. I can't tell the difference in flavor. To each his own, but I'm not a salter!

I do add milk to scrambled eggs. I've tried 'em both ways and I just like the texture better. Vive la difference.

a little milk will keep them from "going green" if you need to keep them warm for a time.

Wow... apparently, you can now drop the "F" bomb on Sci-fi channel, so long as it's late at night.  Will boobs be next?

People seem more divided about oil in pasta water. For instance, Gordon Ramsay oils his water, Jamie Oliver does not. Does oil really prevent water from overcooking with foam and make the pasta not stick together? What happens when adding oil AND salt???? I already spent way too much time on this  :bouncegiggle:

IMPE, oiling the spaghetti keeps it from clumping as much.  I pours little cooking oil over the spaghetti then pour the water over it,  they microwave it in the special spaghetti maker I use. After cooking it I run could water over it and strain it.

I received an email today from the Universal Live Church Ministries.  I completely forgot that seven years ago a friend of mine was getting married, so I went and signed up to be a Reverend to try and convince him to let me marry him.  It didn't work, he got someone else.
This is my awesome signature.  Jealous?

If me and Kristi had got married in the UK, I was going to make my younger brother go for ordination as a Jedi so he could conduct our wedding. Unfortunately, I was told that his ordination wouldn't allow him to conduct weddings in the US though.

You know, I could have sworn that once, years ago, I used to be good at playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3, but recently I've been replaying it (the complete edition), I find myself constantly getting my ass kicked in every scenario.  (And yeah, I even jack the difficulty down to "normal").  Kind of depressing really...

Really thinking of going to see Us when it comes out in theaters.  Looks like a pretty good horror film.
