I did try and run a search on this before post but I didn't see this mentioned anywhere. If it is old news I'm sorry. I just got this movie in the mail and I just thought it was very cool to see this.
"Strange and unexplained events are occuring."

Wow.

While it is really cool to see badmovies.org quoted on a DVD box like, that quote could not be taken more out of context.

Andrew's Review of THE BEING  And it's one slime - not one of Andrew's favorites.

"A rare find."

Yes, those words start the review.  But the full quote is:

"This is a rare find: a monster movie set in Idaho. Stick to the spuds, my friends; they are much easier to swallow whole."

How about "Grab some friends to watch this?"

Here's the full quote:

"Grab some friends to watch this, because you do not want to attempt it alone. Just make sure that your fellow bad movie watchers are the forgiving sort."

Not really a glowing endorsement, but hey...maybe that's still glowing praise in the eyes of the folks distributing the DVD.

Professor Hathaway:  I noticed you stopped stuttering.
Bodie:      I've been giving myself shock treatments.
Professor Hathaway: Up the voltage.

Well, something I can say about the DVD is that it dramatically improved the picture quality of the film.  In the old VHS release, half the time you couldn't tell what the heck you were supposed to be looking at (a lot of the movie takes place at night).  When I rewrote the review, I made sure to preserve those two sentence parts - because it amused me, plus not to try and pull the tablecloth out from under that quote.  However, even in the original review (I think it was written in 1999), the quote is actually two parts of the article spliced together.

Originally, the plot section was this: (underline and bold added to the two parts)

Quote
Now this was a rare find, an Idaho monster movie. Stick to spuds my friends, they're much easier to swallow whole. It's your standard "killer mutant created by toxic waste with incredible powers which is only vulnerable to the main character" film. Would you believe our main character's name is Mortimer, just sounds manly doesn't it? Jeez... ...anyway, we start off with a distant view of the town and stormclouds - then intrudes a grim narrator! Not in person, just his voice, warning us that things aren't quite right in Pottsville, ID. Cut to some young lad fleeing the unguarded, rusting, nuclear waste dump (hehehehe!) into a junkyard. He climbs INTO A JUNKED CAR AND IT STARTS RIGHT UP. Ouch. I'm the product of public education and that one hurts me. Fodder boy doesn't get away though, the monster somehow gets on top the car and rips his head off. So we've established that "The Being" is ultra powerful and normally resides at the nuclear waste dump. Now poor Mort (He hates to be called that.) is trying to figure out what the heck is going on, we're in pretty much the same boat. The movie is dark, real dark, it's hard to see most of the time. After several encounters with the creature our main characters discover where it's been hiding and attempt to terminate. No good, Garson is dismembered in about ten seconds, shortly after blasting it point-blank with a shotgun. Mortimer does much better, he kills it with an axe at last. (Then it explodes into sparklers! Ouch again...) Grab some friends to watch this, especially when Mort jumps across the railroad tracks. He's huffing along through pitch dark country night, jumps across the railroad tracks, and... ...it's morning! Did I mention that The Being is able to change into a liquid form? Yep, sure does, too bad it didn't think of that when old Mort was hacking it to pieces. Stupid monster...

I agree with Andrew about the DVD being noticeably brighter and actually WATCHABLE unlike the old VHS version that I used to have.
