KYGOTC

Alrighty. I love weird movies. They're my thing. And  lemmie tell ya, the Japanese has no shortage of weird freaky anything. UZUMAKI (aka "Spiral") Is DEFINATLY the weirdest piece of Japanese entertainment I've ever seen.

Heres the story.

A few folks in a small Japanese town become completely obsessed with spirals to a point where one man kills himself via a clothes dryer. It starts to become something more supernatural as a giant spiral cloud appears in the sky that contains the souls of the people who have died by a spiral. Even stranger, students at a nearby school start transforming into giant human-snails. Why? Dude, it's Japan. Don't ask "why".

I'm really not sure how to explain this movie further with out going over to your house and showing you, so I'll just leave you with my thoughts and the trust that you'll go out and watch AT LEAST the first half an hour. It weird. And I still don't know If I like it or not.

"I'm a man too, you know! I go pee-pee standing up!"

Mofo Rising

The movie was alright, but it doesn't hold a candle to the original series, which was just recently re-released. I'd definitely check it out because it is absolutely insane.

I'd love to see all of Junji Ito's work released here in the states. If you're a fan of comics, which you surely are KYGOTC, make the extra effort to check them out.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Echt

I hope you decided to like Uzumaki KYGOTC. I'm a huge fan of it as you know. I wouldn't say it is as weird as Takashi Mike's films though. Junji Ito is awesome, I might just have to order the Uzumaki series off of Amazon. If you want to see more weird Japanese cinema check out Gozu, and Visitor Q.
