Sorry, I've come into the discussion late...

Are we saying the British never shampoo their teeth?

:bouncegiggle: Errr....Yeah!

Oddly enough, tooth decay rates are much higher in the USA than in the UK.

My own teeth are pretty darn British.

I think the "bad British teeth" thing dates back to the 60s and 70s. It's improved since, but the stereotype stuck.

I'm lucky enough to have one of those mouths that doesn't reveal too much of my teeth when I talk/smile, but I definitely have the 'nicotine tan' going on (haven't smoked for 15 years), and my back teeth are  not in very good shape. I attribute that to all the drinking I did in my 20s.

I was in the dentist's chair for 5 hours once. yep. from 10am - 3pm. that's a lot of pink mouthwash. and that was only one of a series of appointments I had, to sort my back teeth...

just doing my bit for King and country here  :teddyr:

My longest absence from the dentist's office was 23 or 24 years. I didn't have a single cavity when I finally went back. Of course my mouth looks like the worst motorway in Afghanistan, but somehow it's cavity-free.......
