Man, oh man, what a huge huge loss. Talk about a giant of the industry.  I didn't even know that he was ill with  multiple myeloma which was what brought about his death.

AICN has a really cool article with pics from throughout his legendary career.

My thoughts go out to Stan's friends and family during this trying time.  R.I.P. Stan. You will be missed!

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Wow, major bummer.

RIP, Stan.  Thanks for the visuals.

Damn it, this is a major loss for the fans and the industry alike! Stan Winston was a modern day Harryhausen, and today's sci-fi and horror movies wouldn't have been the same without him. Hopefully the men and women who worked for him will carry on the legacy.

damn... I was just talking to my dad about how much yesterday's creature effects were better than today's... Well they're certainly not going to be the same anymore :bluesad: For those who don't know, Winston is most known for the creation of the Predator and Pumpkinhead, outstanding monsters.

I can't even put into words how sad I am about this. It's just depressing. You just knew when you saw the guys name on a film that the effects were gonna be amazing. He is right up there with Harryhausen and Tsubaraya. One of the spfx Gods of cinema history!!    :bluesad:
