Wish me luck! (or not, if it's against your principles)

Rev. Powell

I'm taking the Kentucky Bar Exam starting a 9:00 AM tomorrow morning.  If I emerge from the 2 day, 12 hour test with my insanity (sic) intact, I should be licensed to practice law in this state by October.

Sorry, I don't have time to defend the profession from the haters (*cough* BTM) who think that there are too many lawyers already.  All I can promise you is I have no desire to go into personal injury or criminal law, the two specialties that give the profession 90% of its bad rep.

Statistically, I have about a 4 in 5 chance of passing on the first try.  And I think I am reasonably well prepared, having studied for this test as a full time job for the past month.  Still, I'm surprised at how nervous I am right now as I sit here and type this on a break from some 11th hour studying.

If licensed, I promise I will try to keep RC out of jail in the future, even if it means I have to temporarily practice criminal law.

I may not be around much in the next 2 days because of the test.

I have always said that it's 99% of lawyers who give the rest a bad name . . .

but good luck anyway!

BEST OF LUCK!!! whew, I'm really dreading the bar... thankfully I have awhile before I have to face it... Did you go to law school or did you just get your bachelors and then prepare for the test on your own? I'm thinking of trying to just pass it on my own if my gpa is still as high when the time comes.

Again good luck!

Kentucky does not specialize in the fields of law. Some one can chase a ambulance one minute and be appointed a guardian ad litem the next.

Anyway best of luck, I remember how stress my wife was over it she took the multi-state bar about 20 years ago.

Good Luck Rev. I have a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice but I have no desire to become a lawyer in any field. Alot people think that you get tons of money becoming a Lawyer but both personal Injury and Criminal make nothing here in NYC. Criminal Lawyers most of the time have to become ADAs and work for the state before the go out on their own and they make about 25-32 grand a year.

Real Estate and Business make alot and you can be at least straight with people. Civil Rights lawyers seems interesting but don't know much about ti.
Most of all I hate dancing then work, exercise, people, stupidpeople

Good luck!  Also, do you know anything about copyright law?  I've got some questions.  Go on Menard, I've braced myself already.

Good luck, Rev! And when you pass, you'll be able to watch Jaws without being scared ever again (since sharks won't bite lawyers out of professional courtesy. BA-DUM-BUMP ).

What's all this talk about LAWYERS? I thought he was taking the BAR exam? If he doesn't pass, who's going to make the drinks for the Badmovies New Years party?

Oh, like you guys don't deserve it!

Seriously though, do they let you know what questions you missed in the state you're taking it in?  I remember reading in Catch Me If You Can (book based on the movie) the guy said how he managed to pass on his third try mainly because they told him what questions he missed after he took the test.  (Dunno if they still even do that, though, just thought it was an interesting fact.)

Well, best of luck, maybe you'll be the one that helps redeem your kind.

Besides, I guess it could be worse, at least you're not becoming a journalist....

Thanhs all, the test is 1/2 over, just one more day... unless I fail and have to take it again.   :buggedout:

Sister - I don't know of any state that will let you sit for the Bar without graduating from law school first.  If they let you I certainly wouldn't recommend trying it, it would be throwing your money away.

P7 - I know enough to be dangerous.  Ask some questions later if you want.  Andrew knows a lot about copyright law, at least when it comes to fair use.

BTM - no, they won;t tell me what questions I missed or even what I scored.  I just get notified whether I passed or failed, and not until October.
