If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

It is none of the movies mentioned.
HINT2:
The leading role was played by the son of a well known actor. His (the fathers) career began in the 1940s and ended in the 1990s.
Can you dig it?

Kester Pelagius

Well that went from vague to vaguer.

Is this flick hicksploitation?

Did this actor's father retire from movies?

Is he still alive?

Is the kid still making movies?

If not, why?

Let's see.  You say the actor starring in this flick is the kid of a famous guy who's filmography spans the 40s to 90s so. .

That rules out Amanda Plummer since her father, Christopher Plummer, is still making movies.  Can't be Chris Lemmon as his father's, Jack Lemmon, last movie is listed as being released in 2000 by IMDB.  Then again Chris Lemmon did star in some horrible 80s movies.  Then there's Walter Matthau's kid, though I don't think he's been in many 80s era movies.

How about giving us a genre or another screen cap?

Sh! The Octopus (1937)?

That's the one!

This decidedly bizarrre and surreal little flick features one of the most astonishing special effects transformation scenes from any early film.

It's done 'live' in a matter of seconds and there is no absolutely no cut in the film.

Any ideas how it was done?

The actress, by the way, is Elspeth Dudgeon. She's best remembered as the 102 year old  Sir Roderick Femm (she was billed as 'John Dudgeon!) in James Whales' THE OLD DARK HOUSE.

I'm assuming they must've used filters with cameras. Had the make-up applied, then slowly changed filters. One must have been red, so that some of the make-up became invisible.

That's exactly how it was done. They used the same trick in the Fredrick March version of DR. JECKYLL AND MR. HYDE.
