Vicious on the microphone, Douglas hid nicely the fact he was a  teacher at one point in his life.

Except for his time in WWF when it was his whole gimmick as "The Dean", when he was paling around with Leapin' Lanny Poffo, aka The Genius.

Well yes, the big promotions have been known for awful gimicks and wasting talent.

76. Rick Rude (RIP)

Awesome, awesome wrestler. Pretty much forgotten by WWF nowadays, but he was really charismatic and always, always great on the microphone.

77.) Triple H

People can talk about his backstage politics and marrying the boss's daughter, etc.  Fact of the matter is, he's a great in-ring performer who has had a slew of great matches.  Plus I give the guy credit for the fact that he TORE his quad muscle, and not only finished the match (a good five minutes went by), but allowing Jericho to do his patented "Walls of Jericho" elevated Boston Crab submission hold on said legs.  That's dedication.

Gotta pull out another two-for-one at No.78 with Demolition. They're perfect for posting on a bad movies forum too, since they stole their wardrobe from Lord Humungus. My favorite tag team as a youngin', they painted their faces and were known for being brutes. Smash always cut good promos too before eventually being turned into the Repo Man. :tongueout:

79. The New Age Outlaws

IMO, one of the very best tag-teams in wrestling history

80.) Edge and Christian

They meshed well together, made great heels and faces, and had a good vernacular, using phrases like "reeking of Awesomeness."

The Outlaws complemented each other perfectly, in my opinion.  Road Dogg seemed to carry the team on the mic end, as he seemed to have the ability to talk well, plus having more 'charisma' as they say.  Billy was a bit better on the in ring stuff.

I'd have to say the entire WWE/WWF tag team division from '98-'02 or so was the best they had in a long time.  Hardy's, Dudleys, Outlaws, Edge and Christian, Too Cool, APA, Right to Censor, The Radicalz, Rock and Sock Connection, Head Cheese, etc.  Any match featuring a combination of them was good.

81. Kane

I loved the guy from day one, a great idea to breathe new life into the undertaker's storylines. Losing the mask has absolutely killed the character though and Glen Jacobs credibility.  :bluesad:

On a somewhat related topic, Vince McMahon has apparently gone crazy once again, demanding that his performers no longer be referred to as "wrestlers" but strictly as "entertainers", and that "sports entertainment" (the term he himself coined for the industry) is no longer allowed to be used in reference to his product as it shall only be referred to as "entertainment". The old man's been off his rocker for a while now, but with this and his recent refusal to allow anyone in his company to call viewers "fans" and instead refer to them en masse as "the WWE Universe", I'd say he's not far from finally losing his mind legitimately...

Vinnie Mac is the reason I pretty much stopped watching wrestling.  (aside from Vince Russo's backstage writing) Once he bought WCW, I really felt no need to go on.  His brand of shock value that he pumped out during the "attitude" era was disgusting, even for me.  Wrestling...er...'entertaining' belongs with two guy fighting in a ring.  Not two guys blabbing on a microphone for 20 minutes.

82.) Road Warriors (two for one)

The LOD defined tag team wrestilng back in the 80s.  They had the look of total bad asses.  Too bad WWF never gave them a push.  Rather, they made mockeries of them which is another thing to hate Vinnie Mac for.

No.83 - John Bradshaw Layfield - Though good as a big man during his "Texas tough guy" days and as a beer-chugging bar brawler during his time as half of the APA, Bradshaw became a true heel upon taking up his JBL persona. p**sing off the blue collar fans by becoming a Wall Street tycoon, he shaved the mustache, cut his hair, put on a business suit and cranked the smug factor to 11. His in-ring stuff isn't as dynamic today as he gets older (he's got freakin' man tits now), but he makes up for it with great mic work, especially the period when he couldn't cut a promo without referring to himself as a "Wrestling GOD". This government bail out stuff lately has only helped make him a bigger dick.

Great heal at the perfect time.  Nowadays he's known for going off on people but I find those moments entertaining.

No.85 - Sgt. Slaughter - The only professional wrestler to also become an official member of G.I. Joe (), DS's Iron Sheik post immediately made me think of him. He was a good babyface, but he was wicked as a heel. His anti-American turn during the Gulf War and the resulting feuds with Hulk Hogan and Hacksaw Jim Duggan were amazing, especially teamed with the Iron Sheik (under a new name) and that third guy I vaguely remember. "You make me sick, MAGGOT!"

My favorite part is the doctor image of the pair paling around with Saddam Hussein. :bouncegiggle:

87.) Rey Mysterio Jr.

I don't think he's been posted, and if he was, sorry.  One of the best high-flyers, ever, and one of the most exciting wrestlers to hit the scene in the past 15 years.
