Thunderball Fists?! I can have such a thing?!

So I had visitors to my site vote on a bad movie for me to review and the winner was ultimately "Fear No Evil." I was pretty much in "awww crap" mode, until I sat down and gave this flick a chance. After years of keeping it locked away in my collection because I pretty much hated it, I now find myself saying that "Hey, this wasn't too terrible of a flick."

For those of you who haven't seen it, "Fear No Evil" is the tale of an effeminate Antichrist that terrorizes his high school (sort of) and eventually attempts to well... I'm not sure really. I suppose he's trying to build up his evil powers in order to conquer the world? In any case, three Archangels attempt to thwart Ole Scratch's efforts, and along the way we get one bloody baptism, one "Death by Dogeball" sequence, one man that grows a pair of breasts, a passion (of the Christ) play gone horribly wrong, a small horde of zombies, and one of the prettiest anticlimaxes you will ever see. (Look at the pretty animated rays and laser beams! Oooohhh..... aaaahhhhhh.)

And here is the theatrical trailer for "Fear No Evil" for your viewing enjoyment:

Ah... such a classic movie trailer. They sure don't make 'em like this anymore. [sigh]

And who knew that the annoying little kid from "Land Of The Giants" was the Anti-Christ?  I was amazed.

I watched this movie for the first time last night.  I would have seen this movie in the theater if it came to my crappy small town theater back in 1980 - but they were busy with showing a whole lot of other crappy movies (Hanger 18 for example)
I should add the funny way my roommate and I aquired this gem... A month ago, one of my roommates good friends called to say one of his friends (neither of had met) had died a day or two previous. He was delegatied to distribute his dead friends possessions, among which was a huge pile of DVDs.

There were the odd assortment regular movies for my roommate -

Boxes full of gay porn for me!

For the past week, we were watching the Almavaodor box set.  Last night, I suggested we watch something else from the box. I reached in without looking at what I was grabbing and ...voila - That gem was in my hands and popped into the DVD player.

This is one of those movies you have to watch with your head titled sideways for all 139 minutes.  There is a lot of pretty looking 1980s horror steups... that all fall flat.  Not just the situations, the characters are inconsistent. Especially Andrew/Satan.   The parents mumble somethings about how evil their son is..but little to no context or specific examples are given... to a single character in this movie. The "bully" is especially confusing.  Is he just a smartass?  Do his friends even like him?  He does slap his girlfriend and she goes right back into his arms.   I could go on for 20 pages how gloriously confusing I found the "bully"  but you should watch it for yourself. Oh yeah, the "bully" has one super confusing and highly unexpected moment in the locker room.  While all the guys are showering totally naked.. no shorts or filmed above the waist, the "bully"  starts saying Andrew might be "gay"   To Prove how "gay" Andrew is, the "bully" then plants a big kiss right on the lips, with tongue! on Andrew.  That's how bullies prove you're gay..buy kissing another guy while totally naked in front of a bunch of other naked guys..right?

Oh yeah, the soundtrack is pretty good by itself. However, when you watch it with the movie, the songs seem to be 100% randomly picked. They serve no sense of ironic or dramatic coloring.    For example: Bob Geldof's "I don't Like Monday's" can be heard when we pan around the High school  One would expect a massacre is about to unfold....nope.  Nothing. This movie is super confusing.
