Whenever I hear that word, I always think of this:

canoodling
bric-a-brac
flippant
moppet

Oh, "tomfoolery!"  Thank you for reminding me of that one.  Good stuff.

Filth/Filthy

(It seems so much more blunt and to the point.)

"That shirt isn't just dirty, it's filthy!"
Or...
"You are covered in filth!"   TongueOut

Tinfoil
Especially considering they don't really make it out of tin anymore.
& Tincans...
Come to think of it, just about any metal object described with the prefix "tin-"...
With the exception of solder, Because we still use that.

Not in English but: Gulab Jamun (it's an Indian dessert, fried sweet dough in syrup). When I'm in an Indian restaurant I just love saying "Gulab Jamun", "Gulab Jamun".

Has anybody delved into the Yiddish words yet?

Nebbish is a good one, as are Mazal Tov, meshugge, pisher, schmuck, oy vey, kvetch, chutzpah, shtick, plotz, shemozzle, schlock, shmo, schmendrik, schnoz, schlep, shiksa.

The s-words alone are amazing.

In 60's London maybe, not now. Its because people came over from Jamaica and were housed in communal plots, referred to as yards.
