Optical Express Add

It's happened quite a few times now - whenever the advert above where it says "Hey, Wag, you have 3 messages,.. is an ad for Optical Express, a duplicate advert appears beneath it, the same size and shape, covering the new replies and new post options. Whilst it's not a huge problem, it is becomming annoying, as it's been happening for a several days.

I've been having the same problem occasionally lately. I don't think it's limited to a particular ad. As you say, ity's mostly just annoying.

This is in IE 7, by the way.

I'm trying to track down the cause of this issue. Unfortunately, I've not been able to replicate it myself, and that is complicating figuring it out.

Thanks for looking into it Andrew - typically it's not done it since I posted about it. I think maybe it only does it when I have scrolled down to read a topic and then scroll back up, as I never notice the duplicate ad straight away, only when I want to click on Show new replies... after I am done.

It's not a major inconvenience though, so don't spend too much time on it if you have more pressing things to do. Thanks again.

I'm in agreement with Wag. I saw the same thing about a week ago, but I haven't experienced it in the past few days. Maybe they fixed the problem at the advertiser level. I wouldn't consider it high priority if I were Andrew, but I'll mention it if it happens again.

Thanks gents. I have not been able to find the ad described, and quite a few will have stopped due to the end of the month. It's probably expired and will not reappear. Please let me know if it starts cropping up again.

Hey Andrew. It's happened twice since I last posted. I took a screen dump of the last time:

Just remembered that it also happened earlier today at a free internet stand at the train station, but with a different ad; one that was orange and had a plane flying in it (something about Germany too, I think, maybe an airline or holiday deal)

I got the same thing today. Instead of the Optical Express ad, it was one for Kaplan University.

It happened twice this morning in in my first two minutes of logging on - each time with the Optical Express Add.

You're using a higher screen resolution than I am.
That's why the ads appear bigger in the pictures I've shown.

I think I know what was causing this, and have made changes to hopefully keep it from happening even if the advertising server does it again. Sorry for the issues.

Stuff always has to happen while I'm gone.

It happened three times last night, too.
Not really a big deal, but it does get kind of annoying.

Curses. I'm taking another go at this issue as able. I have been able to replicate the problem now. Unfortunately, the ad serving system (via a third party) is also having issues at this time. The latter issue shouldn't be causing problems any more, but it's complicating trouble shooting.
