Gawd....My memory is about as long as my peter...not too big... :bluesad:

Sorry, RC but that made me laugh.  :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle: :teddyr:

I joined in February 2007 if I remember correctly after a quest for info on the film Billy Jack led me here.

I came, I saw, I gained a family and I stayed.  :teddyr:

Mofo Rising

I first started posting on badmovies back in 1998 or 1999. I clearly remember this being one of the first sites that had actual video clips from the movies reviewed, an uncommon thing back in those early days of the internet. (10 years is a long, long time in internet years.)

I'm not a prolific poster, even less so these days. But this site has remained one of my constants over all this time.

The reason I keep coming back is because Andrew has managed to create a meeting place for some very erudite minds, from all walks of life, that actually care about all the crappy movies that have ever been made. I still hold that the community here is the greatest database of forgotten (oftentimes rightfully so) cinema that has yet existed.

If you take a look around, you will find a group of people who have very, very different outlooks on life, and yet it is still a functioning community that very rarely devolves into pointless flame wars. Even now, when the forums have expanded into non-movie topics that include serious discussions of politics and religion, we can still all come together and talk about what is truly important: goofy ass movies.

I don't think it's said often enough (and I don't picture Andrew being the type to seek out praise), but the group he's managed to oversee here is something special. Whenever I think my life is busy (and it is), I think of all the hats Andrew wears, including full-time marine and father, and the fact that he still keeps this site in tip-top shape. That's a lot of work, folks.

Plus, his reviews are funny as s**t. That's not something you can learn, and I should know.

This is my favorite site. So, yeah, I've been here a while.

I will give you a heartfelt amen to that, Mofo.

I joined when I discovered it existed.

The Burgomaster

I think I joined about 8 years ago.  When I started, I used a different name ("Joe", my real name).  After awhile, I changed (transformed?) to The Burgomaster.

Methinks it was sometime in 2003.  Came looking for wave clips of interesting movies and read the reviews and laughed my ass off.

After trawling through the reviews I stopped looking but then discovered the forums and laughed my ass off.  Joined up eventually and started posting.  Don't have enough time to trawl as I once had, and I have a list of reviews I want to do that I just can't at the moment, but hopefully soon.

Anyways, only forum I go to, since I have no need to go elsewhere: badmovies and the occasional off topic fun times.

Good peeps and good [bad] movies.

Joined in 2006 - thought it had been longer than that.  I read a lot of movie reviews online, so I found Badmovies.org, and it was just the sort of stuff I love  :teddyr:  With video clips even!

Don't really post anywhere else, I go to the AV Science forum (home theater equipment) occasionally, but hardly ever post.  Used to go to Horror DVD's, but I dunno, got bored there I guess.

This site really has the best group of people of anyplace I've found on the web.  Everyone seems very comfortable with the idea that we've all got different tastes in movies, and nobody has to write long essays about how this is good, that is bad, if you don't agree, you are wrong and have questionable intelligence.  That's why I quit posting at some other sites, I think they're movies, just for entertainment.  Other people seem to base their entire manhood on the idea that their tastes are perfectly in line with what is considered elitist opinion or whatever.  Just bores me  :teddyr:

I think I joined around 1998 or 1999. I had been reading the reviews and enjoying them, noticed the forum but didn't join right away--I'm not much for joining forums (I get online to get away from people, not to try to meet new people). I looked at the forum, and after a while reading it decided to post. I acted like a bit of a jerk then, not intentionally, but when I went back later and looked at some of my older posts, it was how I came across. I hope I've mellowed a bit. This is the only movie forum I post on, though I did join a couple of music forums for some specific information, though I rarely go to them any more.

Like Mofo Rising, I don't post here a lot, but I still visit every day. And I see that I must not post very memorable stuff, since no one citing old-timers mentioned me.  :bluesad: :tongueout:

Mofo said it for me too:   This place is outstanding.

My oldest posts seem to go back to 2002 (?).  I think I was on here a good bit before that, but I have never had much to say.

I remember you as an 'old-timer' Derf; along with Mofo, Flange, Ash and others.

(Edited to add:  LOL! I put 'Badmovies.org history' into the search on here and it asked me if I wanted to search for 'Badmovies ORGY history' -  is there something going on that you guys have not told me about?  Hmmm?   :buggedout:  :bouncegiggle:)

I lurked around here for 3 or 4 years (had it bookmarked) reading Andrew's reviews.  I think it was about 2003 before I actually started using the Phorum (that's what the software Andrew was using at the time was called).

The old forum was just an ever scrolling list of posts. You really had to use the search to find things.

I finally joined the board after reading a lot of the posts and decided to give it a try. I think the first thing I posted was asking about the age of the members.

I was really surprised when one time that Andrew had to be away for several months he made me a moderator!

I have to say that this is the most civilized board on the net (or damned close).

We have a real community here folks.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Mr. DS

This is a fun community and although I'm sure Andrew never intended it originally to be central hub, it has become a the focal point for discussion in our counter film culture.

I did come to the site frequently before joining up in the forum.  I did a few guest reviews which inspired me to start my site.  Andrew, who remains one of the most humble guys I know, has left the world a legacy.

After lurking for a few months, I registered on October 04, 2007, 05:30:27 PM.  I would have registered at 5:27:15 PM, but I was interrupted by a phone call.

My first post was on METROPOLIS.  The first member to welcome me was Scott (now Wolfgang, sadly MIA).  RC also responded to my first post and welcomed me, looked at my avatar and mentioned that he had the words "LOVE" and "BEER" tattooed on his fingers.  I was hooked immediately.
