Not your Father's Sherlock Holmes?    Sorry Dude, but I love it and what did you expect?  Robert Downey Jr. Rocks!

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Since when was Sherlock Holmes a bare-knuckle brawling womanizer??

I'll wait for the critics reviews before I decide to see it.
More than likely I'll wait for it on DVD.

I guess they figured if they can turn Van Helsing into a whip-cracking, Simon Belmont knock off, they can get away with this.  I'm with Ash on this one.  I'll wait for reviews.  Even for a summer movie, this looks like it could go either way.

Throwing all literary background out the window, it looks like it would be entertaining as long as I accept the fact it is just another over-the-top action film. Looking at it in that light, it looks like a bit of a hoot.

So, is Robert Downey, Jr. looking to be the modern Oliver Reed? I think he is a touch too gentle to fill the shoes, but this IS a kinder, gentler time.

"Throwing all literary background out the window" works fine with me, usually. This time, however, it concerns one of my favorite fictional characters. And while I do think he could be in need of some polishing - moviewise - the direction as to be guessed at from the clip goes in the wrond direction for me. I will definitely not see it where I have to pay money for it. Maybe on the telly sometime, but I doubt it. I could live with this sort-of-comedy about a young Holmes some years back, but this is pushing it too far. I'd prefer a much darker adaption, not comedy style...

Bare-knuckle brawling, yes. He was supposed to be surprisingly strong. When one huge character tried to scare him by bending an iron bar in front of him, Holmes bent it back, and more than once Doyle described his skill in fistfights.

But womanizer... absolutely not. That's the complete antithesis of the character.

I don't mind them working some fighting into a Sherlock Holmes film.  I am a bit leary about this film, though I do think Roberty Downey Jr. could be a very good Holmes.  We'll see, I guess.

It's basically the only chance I've had in my entire life to see Sherlock on the big screen (I was about 4 when Without a Clue came out, doesn't really count) - for such an immensely, continuously popular character in the culture of the UK and the US I find that pretty surprising.

Psycho Circus

"Pimp" my Sherlock Holmes - sponsored by Starbucks.

I'm sure it'll make alot of money, but get critically panned....

...So everyone will be happy.

I think they should make a movie called "Sherlock Homes" starring Fred Williamson as an inner-city detective with a pipe and a magnifying glass who solves a mystery involving gang violence.

The trailier didn't look very good.  A definite wait for the DVD.

Ya know..  That sounds better than this film.  I'd totally see that one in the theatre.
