I Heard That The So Called "master of horror" Wes Craven Actually Started Out Making X Rated Movies In The 70'S

Also Danny Steinman (the director of FRIDAY THE 13TH Part 5) Made A Lot Of Pornographic films
Wes Craven didn't make porno, he only appeared in like 3 of them.  His first film was The last house on the left (according to IMDB).
And please, don't depreciate him. He gave us Nighmare on Elm st., afterall.

And Danny Steinman only made one. (Again, according to IMDB)

I dunno about Steinman himself, but it's worth noting that MANY MANY MANY porn movies don't appear on the IMDB.  So I hear anyway.    :twirl:

Ron Jeremy Played in the comedy movies ORGAZMO And DETROIT ROCK CITY And Also The Horror Movie DEATH FACTORY

Softcore Pornostar Misty mundae Played In THE RAGE And A Few Other Regular Movies

Softcore Pornostar Beverly Lynne Was In The Movie TERROR TOONS
Surprisingly enough, Ron Jeremy also was a star on the Disney Productions show "Bone Chillers", starring as the villain Blisterface.

But the makeup was done in a way that he was unrecognizable, so that anti-porn groups didn't know it was him.

Joe the Destroyer

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Traci Lords.  She was in tons of hardcore and softcore porn before going Hollywood.

.Ginger Lynn-in many pornos-was in The DEVIL's REJECTS as Sid Haig's wet dream! And in BURIED ALIVE,among many other straight roles. She still does porn!

She also had roles in the video games Wing Commander III: The Heart of the Tiger, and Wing Commander Prophecy.

I think Dale Jacoby who played Dean Ramsey in No Retreat No Surrender went on to direct many porn films in his day.

Joe D'Amato didn't star in porn, but he eventually directed it after starting out as a Euro-shock director (directing such turds as Anthropophagus and The Killing Birds).  I even heard he was better at porn than Italian horror.

Mofo Rising

Joe Dallesandro made several gay porn films, moved on to Warhol films, and now gets bit parts here and there in regular films.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Kester Pelagius

This thread seems to have gotten off track a bit. Which is fine by me as I now get to share my vast and finite cinematic trivial, er, trivia knowledge.  Starting with the fact that Joe D'Amato, like many of his contemporaries, actually did "adult" movies during their heyday.  Remember there was a very narrow window of time during the 70s when porn was chic.  THis means that a lot of softcore movies were released with alternate version containing hardcore inserts.

During this period Joe D'Amato made a number of softcore features like Papaya: Love Goddess of the Cannibals, Emanuelle in America, and Caligula, the Untold Story; Alfonso Brescia made a number of sex farces including and Beast in Space, Poppea: A Prostitute in Service of the Emperor, and Helen, Yes... Helen of Troy.

Many of these films features actresses who did, or went on to star/appear in, hardcore features. Actresses like Marina Lotar, Sirpa Lane, Laura Gemser, et al.

Which begs the question: What did the OP mean by "porno stars"?

Are we talking strictly U.S. actors appearing in hardcore XXX movies like the aforementioned Ron Jeremy & Traci Lords?  And, for that matter, what does the OP mean by "gone straight"?  Does the OP mean stopped making adult movies and transitioned into mainstream fare?

I ask because someone has already cited Sylvia Crystal and "Emmanuelle" as porn, which it is not.  There is nothing explicit about that movie.  But if we're going to embrace that as porn then it opens up the entire genre of erotica and softcore latenight T&A crap, a lot of which actually does star porn stars.

I think you'll find most of the better known "names" have had cameos on TV series and movies.  The two biggest ones that come to mind are Vanesa del Rio, who appeared in an episode of NYPD Blue as herself and, of course, Angelique Pettyjohn*, who appeared in
the ST:TOS episode Gamesters of Triskelion.

(*) Though I forget if she did her porn movies before or after appearing in Star Trek.

Or, for that matter, what about Kobe Tai's appearance in Very Bad Things.

She does have ONE legal XXX film on the market, Traci I Love You, made AFTER she turned 18. But it ain't easy to come by.

Ed, Ego and Superego

To split hairs...I make a distinction etween porn actors who leave the jiggly stuff to olny make movies.  For example Traci Lords or old Sly.  Folks like Ron Jeremy Are still Ron Jeremy Porn Star, no matter if they are dressed or not.  It his identity.

Um, did that make sense at all?
