I'm ambivalent toward vampires, and I hate kids.  (I also had the ending spoiled for me already.)

Should I bother seeing this?

I would say yes.

Ditto.
"Do you have something against droppings?" "Well, no, I..." "Sure, everyone says that till they step in it."

The Novel is pretty good too, although the text has the inevitable translation quirks if read in English.  It also has some plot lines dropped in the movie (Correctly so, IMHO.)

I watched this with my wife one night last week.  the version I rented was dubbed instead of subtitled, but they managed to do a decent job of it at least.  I enjoyed it, for the most part . . . it did move a tad slow in places, and the little bit of child nudity was rather disturbing.  Despite all that, it was a very rich character study, and little Eli was the exact right combination of menacing and innocent.  All in all, a well done film.  I am not as down on remakes as some of you (I still say THE RING was better than RINGU), but I do hope Hollywood doesn't screw this up too badly.

I thought the child nudity was a bodydouble, or it seemed that way to me. I do agree that it was disturbing but I also think the intent was to disturbe the viewer, since the girl is a vampire she therefore shouldnt be consider as a child... And we have a hard time determing this, therefore the nudity scene does become disturbing.

I do like the movie but it seems to be missing a bigger chunk of her undead life. Although the story actually follows the boy more it should of implied more information about the vampire girl (unless I'd missed something during the movie... I just cannot believe she waited this long to find a boy.
