Some songs transcend the norm and become anthems.
(They're few and far between.)

Here's a song that became an anthem for disgruntled youth:

Do you know of any songs that eventually became an "anthem"?

As much as I don't care for it, 'Freebird' seems to be the anthem of the rock-n-roll south.

This is such an obvious choice, yet it boggles my mind how it ever became a (ahem) gen-x anthem. The lyrics are pretty ambiguous, I mean, just who in the hell decided that Kurt was the "spokesman for a generation"? Idiots. I think it was a total fluke that Nirvana became so huge. I thought they were a cool band, but that was that, not that I was part of some stupid so called "movement". Kids bought this album because it was popular, just like they bought MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Color Me Badd, Vanilla Ice, etc. etc...because that was the stuff that was popular before Nirvana came about. See what I'm trying to say???
