Tales of Terror (1962) did a version of "The Cask of Amontillado" story with Peter Lorre and Vincent Price. Pretty sure "The Black Cat" was mixed in with it too.

I don't know the film Venomx is looking for, but I just want to confirm the statement that the tale in "Tales of Terror" with Lorre and Price was a combination of Poe's "The Black Cat" and "The Cask of Amontillado."

venomx

No it was not in Tales of Terror... Thank you though.

I'm still on the look out.

I also recall the evil man talking to the "doomed man" as he was putting the last stone in the wall.

But I am sure, 100% it's a 60's or 70's movie... with an old castle.

I bumped to see if any new people have an idea.

Thank you.

Well the problem with using Poe suggestions is that he has a few people that are enclosed in various places.  However, chaining and speaking while working are specific to "The Cask of Amontillado".  However, I have tried looking for movies inspired by the story with no luck.  I'm not sure what else is out there.  There could be an obscure foreign adaptation.  His stories resonated well in France that may be worth looking into for ideas.  I know the '60s and '70s had a few dubbed Poe featured French movies though can't think of any off the top of my head.
Ah, the good old days.

I know I saw a version of The Cask of Amontillado in college which sounds a lot like the film being described here...not sure if it was originally French dubbed into English but it might have been...

Thanks guys... but its not The Fall Of The House Of Usher as I know that movie well.

I think I also forgot to mention the man that was being entombed was blonde witha bowl cut hair cut.

Jack

They did that several times on the TV show Dark Shadows.

Here's Reverend Trask walling up Barnabas (at about 2:10):

Here's Tim shaw and Judith walling up Trask (around 2:50):

There was at least one more where Barnabas walled up Rev. Trask.

Yeah, but it was definitely a full movie. Thanks though.

Cobble stone path to a castle... evil man talking to the doomed man... the doomed man was blonde 100% sure.

I wish I could remember more.

venomx

I need to watch The Masque of the Red Death (1964) with Vincent Price. I think that's THE movie!

If someone gets entombed alive that's it... it sure looks like the time line.

I'll edit this after I watch it.

Bargle5

VenomX, you've forgotten. I watched "The Masque of Red Death" almost 2 years ago and it wasn't it. Look back at posts 20 and 22. No blonde bowl cut guy getting walled up.
Frogs with their endless croaking, croaking, croaking in the night.

venomx

Thats right you did. Sorry about that as I can't even remember last week anymore...

Wow 2 years now! Damn. Will I ever find that movie?

Rayo Casablanca

This one's had me baffled for so long. I'm certain I've seen it as well. I've been thinking maybe it was one of Jess Franco's Poe adaptations... Also has Tor-Man's suggestion ever been ruled out: Master of Horror (Argentina made film, showed up on TV all the time) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054134/ or that 1965 University of Michigan production of "Cask..." that showed up on PBS?

*bump*

Pretty sure what you're looking for is And the Wall Came Tumbling Down (1984), actually an episode of the UK's Hammer House of Mystery tv show, but I think released in the US as a stand-alone movie.

Edit: It won't let me post the direct link, but the whole thing is available on youtube.

super bump! lol

nope sorry... buts not that it... Ive been looking since 2009

the blonde guy that was entomed had a bowl cut... im 100% sure of it...

I know it's not "The Cat" with Vincent Price. It sure looked like him though.

maybe in story - same time period as The Pit and the Pendulum.

It was in color. (very medieval looking)
