This Movie Brought To You By the Color...

Ever notice over the last several years how all kinds of movies are shot on a specific color palette?
Cinematographers go completely overboard nowadays saturating the entire picture with a specific color.

Like in the movie Gothika.
I didn't want to see the color blue for days after watching that awful movie.
Heck, even the DVD cover is the same color as most of that movie.

A lot of Michael Bay's films have a heavy yellowish tint to them.

Whatever happened to using regular colors??
Does it bother your eyes when watching movies like that?
Can you think of any other films that are known for being shot in a certain color?

I mentioned in my review of DELICATESSEN that the movie had no blue in it (until the last shot). 

When was the last time you saw a movie with absolutely no blue?

The color scheme changed around from shot to shot (red, green, yellow, black and gold) but never blue.

In general I like movies with consistent color schemes in them, but there does need to be some variety.

Those Underworld movies are really heavy on blue.  Larva with Vincent Vantresca is all full of browns and tans.

Shakes The Clown has a bit of a yellow/greenish tint to it most of the time.

Bah, I think in most cases this is absolutely unnecessary, one of the cruddiest things to come to modern cinema... A lot of times it's done for "atmosphere," which ironically yet predictably ends up cheapening the whole thing.

New school filmmakers: you can't all be Argento (Though I doubt you're trying to follow Suspiria's example since that one also employed epic camerawork, suspense, and plenty of well-done setpieces)
