So, I've this idea kicking around in my head for awhile. Sadly though, I don't quite have the skills yet it off, so I figured I'd just come here and chat about it for a bit. Enjoy! :)
Game Idea: Red Friday aka Bargain Hunter Massacre!
Plot: You are Will, an average, not so bright twenty-something year old slacker who works part time stocking shelves and doing janitorial work at
Shop and Slave, a megacorp variety store. Also working at the same story is Jason, your best friend since grade school and roommate. Called into to work early on the day after Thanksgiving, you two were getting displays ready when the manager order your best bud to open the store’s entrance to let in the teeming horde of bargain seekers outside.
Bill, being apprehensive about the mob, asked the manager if perhaps it was a job for more than one person, but the manager harshly insisted that Jason could handle it, and your buddy, not knowing any better, relented.
A split second after unlocking the front entrance, the crowd jerked opened the doors and poured through the entrance way like a tidal wave. Jason had only a split second to gasp in horror before being swallowed up by the crowd.
When the flood past, Jason lay on the floor, his body covered in shoe prints and quite still. Seeing his battered and broken corpse lying on the floor, something within you snapped.
None of the customers who came in that day stopped to check and see if your best friend was okay. So intent on pursuing their obsessive materialistic needs, none of them even slowed down.
As far as you’re concerned,
every one of those bargain-hunting bastards deserves to die.
And once you’re finished, Green Friday is going to become…
RED FRIDAY
Gameplay: The game starts with you controlling William. The store is shown from an overhead view with various characters walking about. You start standing next to the entrance where the incident just occurred.
From there, you travel about the store, talking to co-workers and customers and picking up items from various sections.
With each customer, you’ll have an option to engage them in combat. Each of the customers (with the exception of Zombie Shoppers and some other “generic” foes), have different attack styles, weapons, and stats. The key to victory is taking on the customers in the right order, with the best weapon for the job. You will gain new weapons after defeating certain customers.
Not sure if this will be a “stat raise” RPG, or more strategy, as you have to simply figure out what order/weapons you need to use to insure victory (a la Megaman.) In addition, after you’ve defeated a certain number of opponents, new characters will appear to challenge you (like The Manager).
So, what do you guys think?
I really don't know where this stuff comes from... seriously. :)
