What are you doing right now?

Binge watching Penny Dreadful at my mother in laws while my wife and her sister are out finishing off buying presents. My mother in law is in rehab after getting a double knee replacement (unfortunately she got a 4 inch split down her bone during the operation so she is in rehab learning to walk again and can't put any weight on one leg) so I have the house to myself.

Saw a woman yesterday with a tumour hanging out her leg. She was waiting on getting treatment and was begging for money to get a room where she could keep warm until she could be seen. Normally I'd have driven her to wherever she wanted to stay and paid for the room rather than just blindly handing over money to someone, but I decided if it was some sort of scam then that was on her and my conscious would be clear.

Sometimes I really feel sorry for American's not having so many things that much of the rest of the first world takes for granted.

Maybe when the day comes we can stop defending half the world at our expense, we can afford those things.

I really hope you do, I've given people money for food, I've bought toys and clothes for poor families and nothing I've been able to do will really make more than a difference for a few days. The poverty I've been seeing is heartbreaking.
