Moviegoer is stabbed after complaining about cellphone user

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-meat-thermometer10-2010mar10,0,7045869.story

QuoteA meat thermometer was plunged into the victim's neck during a screening of 'Shutter Island.' An L.A. County sheriff's spokesman called it a 'vicious and cowardly attack.'

A dispute at a Lancaster movie theater during a screening of "Shutter Island" ended with someone plunging a meat thermometer into the neck of the man who complained about someone sitting near him talking on a cellphone during the show.

The incident occurred two weeks ago at the Cinemark 22 theater, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The theater was packed for a 9 p.m. Saturday screening of the Martin Scorsese film when the moviegoer complained about a woman near him using a cellphone.

The woman and two men with her left the theater. But sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said two men returned a few minutes later and stabbed the victim.

"It was a vicious and cowardly attack," Whitmore said. The victim, who was not identified, was hospitalized with serious wounds.

Two moviegoers who came to the victim's aid were also hurt during the fight, officials said.

The suspects are still at large. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the Lancaster sheriff's station at (661) 948-8466

Seriously, WTF is wrong with people? Have we always been this crazy?
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far~ ruminations

Apparently I've dodged death a few times in theater.  I've told a few people to "shut the f*ck up".  Its unlike me to be verbally abusive to strangers like that but I can't stand people who disrupt movies.  Last incident was during New Moon.  I was irritated to be there anyhow.

I'm with you on that one.  My favorite is saying, "Now's a great time to shut up."

The only thing worse than talkers is people making out.  I sat through Underworld hearing a nearby *whisper whisper* *whisper whisper* *smack slurp glorp lick lorg*.  I almost told them to rent a video and get a f**king room.

That's why I always sit front row centre, no one to disturb me and no one to kick my chair. Cellphone off or on vibrate for me. No food or drink ~ I can eat and drink afterwards.

We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

I am thoroughly appalled that the person stabbed was NOT the one on the cell phone.  If there's going to be violence like meat thermometer stabbings, the idiot should be the victim.

Worst people are texters, by far.  They're basically sticking a flashlight into your face over and over again for the entire run time.  I've come very close to smashing cell phones a few times.

And...  Um...  So why was this guy carrying a meat thermometer?

Could this be him?
